Sensiblenonsense most that I've seen either loop, I mean even if they don't you can watch it again, or they have so many things going on around you that it really doesn't matter where you look. So far the cat has gone clockwise around you in both three sixty videos. I tend to look around the environment first and then settle on a spot until something happens there, and then move the camera in the direction the cats (or whatever) is moving or looking.

A bit odd for this to be someone's first 360° video but even odder that it has to be probably the first animated 360° video on KZbin

Siddharth Kansal KZbin's 360 videos are kind of like a normal video, but wrapped in a way where you could look in all directions. Chromecast still shows it in the normal way, where you could see that only really the top half of the stars and the moon are more squashed. For the rest it's just a normal animation.

I sat here forever until I realized that 360 meant the image was adjustable. How the hell did you do that?

Video is squished at the top and bottom and wrapped around a sphere. Adjust the video so the camera can pan around the sphere, and there you go. The main problem with these would be an obvious seam at the top and bottom of you look directly up or down, though they did an amazing job of hiding them here. If you go look at some other 360 videos that people have shot irl those show off the seam a lot better. Which for that it's just a bunch of cameras pointed in different directions and stitched together. This is a looping animation squishified. 'S neat.

It depends on what browser you're using - many modern browsers allow you to drag the view around with your mouse. If your browser supports this functionality, there should be a circular pad in the top left of the video, and if you hover over the video with your mouse, the cursor will change to a hand.
