I don't normally listen to podcasts, but I can't resist Simone. She's a favorite of mine. I admire her perseverance and her ingenuity. Also, I'm completely with her on pronouncing it as Gif.. not Jiff.. It's unfortunate some of the things that happen when you become a "star" and grateful she hasn't run into too many yahoos along her journey. Truckla is impressive, no doubt, but I think her present mode of transportation is better in terms of not getting followed around unnecessarily. I always look forward to her vids and appreciate how it's not a video just for the sake of uploading something. Looking forward to her next vid.. :-)

Back in the 90's, I was working in IT for my government. My dad, a lifetime public servant, was irritated that I was jumping from agency to agency but not getting actual promotions to do so (more money but no titles) and he said to me "What's your plan? What are you going to be doing in 10 years time?". I told him "The stuff I'm working on or with now did not exist 10 years ago. The rate of change indicates that the stuff/work I'll be doing in 10 years time hasn't been invented yet. The career is the industry - I'm just along for the ride."

On the joystick vs. yoke discussion. Interestingly, airplanes have both options. Boeing commercial planes use a yoke which is similar to a steering wheel with the addition of being able to push the yoke forward or back for pitch. Airbus, on the other hand, uses sidesticks which are joysticks on the left or right side of the pilot and copilot.

I remember seeing a hand yolk. It was positioned on the gear stick space. The reason for this all was so that when one person got tired of driving they didn’t have to swap places in the car.
