I began studying nutrition with Adele Davis and over my lifetime experimented with various low carb plans, exercise styles, and fasting routines. Began jogging in my 30's, kept riding even more. I recently found your videos on arthritis with knees and hips. Now, seeing this about anti-inflammatory foods….you are a blessing. My childhood into my mid-40s I regularly played tennis, rode horses, skied and studied modern dance. All that came to a halt when I tore an ACL in 1998 and the other in 2004. I had reconstruction on one, but the PT was so horrendous I chose not to for the other. I’m 68 now and had a successful left total hip replacement 6 years ago, but my knees are starting to feel dodgy. I can no longer bound up the stairs and descending takes time (the hip is great). Your videos and exercise demos give me hope I can get back to some normalcy and hopefully put off knee surgery, as that PT is straight out of Hades and I want to avoid it as long as I can. @arthritisadventure3 жыл бұрын
Interesting! Usually bell peppers are recommended as anti-inflammatory but everyone responds differently so it’s good that you found out that it’s one of your triggers. There hasn’t been much evidence saying that they aggravate inflammation. But again, each person is different!
@loriallred47273 жыл бұрын
@@arthritisadventure But you have heard about nightshades and the possible effect on arthritis? I think it is kind of like glucosamine... doesn’t effect everyone. That said, I have a friend with RA and she said bell peppers are a trigger as well.
@arthritisadventure3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have! Nightshades do have the possibility to aggravate inflammation in some. Same with gluten and dairy. They can affect some more than others. But usually the idea is to cut out processed foods first before cutting out natural foods when starting out. But when you've been following an anti-inflammatory diet for a while, then you can hone in on these specifics to maximize results!

Dairy products promote inflammatory processes in the body. Animal protein contains cholesterol, which clogs the arteries with cholesterol plaque deposits, which lead to atherosclerosis, heart attacks, stroke, dementia and diabetes. Animal products are metabolized acidically = pro-inflammatory, therapeutic proteins are metabolized alkaline and have an anti-inflammatory effect, for example soy beans and tofu are an excellent source of protein.

This looks really good! I love those veggies, but just can't do them for breakfast. I love eggs though. Personally, I have to work on the cause of my inflammation which I am sure is sugar! I don't drink stuff with sugar but I eat too much sugar, cuz it tastes so good!!!! Trying to cut down. Addiction I feel!

I heard using avocado oil is better for cooking since it has a higher smoke point and doesn't break down like olive oil and lose its benefits. I use olive oil for salads. 😊 Thanks for the tips. ❤

Onions contain oligosaccharides that can be inflammatory to many people. Peppers are a nightshade and really triggers arthritis. Egg whites also often trigger symptoms in sensitive people. And so does oil, especially heated. It's better to sautee with water only or steam the veggies. For some, lentils or beans might work better, you just have to test for yourself.
@arthritisadventure Жыл бұрын
inflammatory responses are very person-dependent. Onions, peppers and egg whites can be great sources of nutrients and can have anti inflammatory properties. Sure, some people may be an exception but largely natural foods are imperative into a diet to help control inflammation. Correct, it's important to test for yourself. I'd love to read research articles on the statements you made if you want to send them over.
@andyrevo8081 Жыл бұрын
@@arthritisadventure No, they are not person-dependent. That is a misconception. The main culprit for arthritis is grains, but most people are unwilling to stop eating bread, pasta, cookies and oatmeal. Especially the latter is considered to be healthy - and I was a firm believer in oats. I tried quitting grains several times - but always way too short to experience any effects. But there was a study that made clear, how lectins in grains damage the lining of the colon and substances meander through the body, altering the tissue of the joints and ligaments, which then is seen as foreign by the immune system and therefore being attacked. It sounded plausible. Pain drove me to extend absence from grains. It has to be at least ten months to a year because the colon needs to heal. I have been pain free now for seven yeras and without any medication, after twenty years of crippling inflammation. Night shade plants DO worsen arthritis. Epecially eggs DO worsen arthritis due to their high volume of arachidonic acid. You can counter that a little by omega threes. Not even mentioning arachidonic acid shows little expertise. However, eggs or nightshades are not the cause. It is a combination of a genetic disposition (how well the cells of your colon stick together) and the exposure to lectins, which compromise the density of your colon lining. Lectins are also present in legumes. If you pressure-cook lentils for example, the lectins will dissolve. But they will never dissolve in grains. People think "I am not allergic to gluten - so I won't have problems with grains". Well, think again if you have arthritis - because lectins are the cause. And we have more arthritis cases than ever before because lectins are actually natural substances to protect a plant - but by breeding, the amount in them was massively increased to make crops more resilient. You MUST know all this if you call yourself an expert. Google VIOXX scandal. I almost died from that. Ever since then I swore to educate myself before believing doctors. So all talk about nutrients in bell peppers, eggs and oats is true - for people WITHOUT arthritis, that means no side effects. But if you do have arthritis, you might want to find alternatives.

@@andyrevo8081 You are a great explainer. I have had my major switch up to grain free foods this past year thanks to precrohns. I always knew I was not a celiac but also knew wheat slowed me down. I improved so so much however my problem is figuring out if my issues are from leaky gut or just arthritis from other issues like as a baby I had scarlett fever, also had a few viruses and injuries on the upper back etc. I would like to think working on the leaky gut will bring me back the energy as living with post whip lash and old preserved joint injuries are never really going to disappear! Anyways, I love eating these cassava cauliflower wraps instead of sandwiches. It has really worked. I also feel like I am the kind of person that does not do well with onions. I literally am growing spring onions but prob will eat in small quantities! Any thoughts I would read up on more.

@@andyrevo8081 is gluten free oats okay ? As I have these all the time. With regards to beans and pulses I soak them overnight or boil them. I have cut out processed foods and sugar.
@andyrevo8081 Жыл бұрын
@@HA-kw7vq No grains except sorghum or millet. It is about lectins. Gluten is a lectin-like protein that has very similar effects. Great if gluten is missing in your oats, but they contain a lot of other lectins as well. If you want to know more about that subject, google Dr. Steven Gundry (author of "The plant paradox"). I am not promoting his book - his finding confirmed my own but he did the research, I had just followed a gut feeling, no pun intended, and I did not know about lectins then.

Just subscribed after finding this video and will try this as I have arthritis and circulation problems in my lower legs, ankles and feet. I love eggs! have 2 poached eggs every morning or sometimes 3 scrambled with Beetroot, black olives and some spinach leaves. Himalayan Pink salt. This recipe in the video I will try as an omelette. Put all the veg in a food chopper/blender to chop it finely. Then cook the veg as required. I would have 3 eggs whisked. Add a mixture of dried herbs. On a Low heat: Pour over the veg evenly. Let it cook for a minute. Check underneath and turn it all over. Check and flip a couple of times to ensure egg is cooked and it doesn't burn. The herbs give it lots of flavour! And add the Himalayan Salt too.

Good video. However I would not trust any pan coated with non-stick surface even with using an oil. Heat can make unhealthy chemicals slowly come out of the the Teflon and cause all kinds of issues including joint pain. Safer to go with Stainless steel or cast iron or even glass.

I've done this breakfast for years. The variation I have added is pre-cooking the vegetables in the microwave (2 min) so that I don't have to fry them. Just throw them in a hot pan and pour on a scrambled egg ( including tumeric, pepper,salt). Sets up quicker. A little bit of feta cheese on top. Served with a tortilla.
