@Redditor60793 жыл бұрын
@@Dennisgoyette that's a damn good way to stay in shape
@mbvglider3 жыл бұрын
For manual labor, those movements are not really optimized for health and lead to repetitive injury, so as you get more efficient at them, you're not necessarily seeking to do twice as much work because it's not like you get paid twice as much if you hammer twice as many nails, so you'll definitely top out at a point where you're not seeking to do more work per hour, but you're really good at it so you can do it with less effort. You're trying to do the same task in less time so you can rest more, not so you can be assigned more to do in the same amount of time. To burn more calories, you have to do more work, which means moving weight across distances. That's why exercise is different, because a faster runner is probably going to run more, too, whereas a slower runner will generally run shorter distances.

There's no way Greg Doucette and Editor steve can fall under the fit category. Yeah...greg is more of a sprinter on the bike and steve is more of a slow place long duration biker but I see the way you guys ride. If an average unfit or moderately active or even a fit guy my self who coincidently is 160lbs even tries to ride a bike as hard as you guys do...we would die. Greg...you don't need to be equal to lance armstrong to call yourself a super fit just like any upcoming bodybuilder like Ian Valliare or Nick Walker don't need to win an olympia sandow to be called an international elite bodybuilder, they already are elite. You underestimate yourself too much and I gotta call that out. I'm a fit guy...6 ft tall 160lbs a little under weight and just like you I lift weights and ride bike. For particularly cardio on my bike at home I sometimes have entire sessions of high intensity with 2-3 extreme sprints in between in a session of 25-30 mins and sometimes I ride at moderate pace for 45 mins with my heart rate at close to 150 in the intense sessions. Not boasting but I consider myself a fit guy at least on the bike when comparing cardio. I have a terrible physique in terms of musculature like steve and I'm working on it but I've always been a fit guy my entire life playing all sorts of endurance sports and most of the people I know that play sports and work out don't even come close to me on the bike. And you're literally my standard of how hard I can go. Just like you I'm out of breath...full of sweat like half dead no energy whatsoever at the end of my sessions. I can't even stand for 3 mins when my session is done and I'm not even remotely closed to Editor steve who's rides like a demon zombie with no expressions on his face while everyone is exerting. You guys would smoke me any day and it won't be even close and I'm way better than an average moderately active guy. Your graph is absolutely correct....I almost burn as much calories the fit section is supposed to but no way you fall in the same category with me. People don't understand how elite you guys already are coz you don't say it

Translating this into some other measures, it seems like Coach Greg is saying that at moderate effort (so you can have a conversation), unfit means that you can comfortably walk about 2.5 miles in an hour (relaxed walking pace), moderately active means you can comfortably jog about 4 miles in an hour (15:00 mile pace), fit means you can comfortably run about 6 miles in an hour (10:00 mile pace), and super fit means you can easily do 7.5 miles in an hour (8:00 mile pace). Currently, I'm right where I can comfortably get 5-5.5 miles in an hour, but 6 would be where I can't sustain a conversation, and I cannot sustain 8 min mile pace past 25 minutes, so it looks like I have a bit more to go before I can call myself fit. Good to know where I sit right now! Thanks, Coach Greg!

Went from 235lbs to 205lbs over the last few months. Keto has a few significant benefits for me. It makes it really easy to lose weight and stick to it. First, I never feel like I’m starving and I _rarely_ experience cravings, if at all. When I eat, I don’t have the urge to overeat because I feel satiated easily. No binge cycles. My joint pain and other inflammation-related issues are gone. Stomach issues are gone. I had chronic kidney stones, mild IBS, and my acid reflux was _so_ bad that I had to sleep sitting up or else stomach acid would come up into my throat and I’d wake up frantically trying to breath as I coughed from breathing it in. Basically, drowning on my own stomach acid. Not a single instance of any issues with my urinary tract or digestive system. At all. I hope I can speak with Coach Greg eventually about why I love keto so much.

We watching this already doing 80-100 min of cardio 6x a week 🤓 there’s no way I burn 4x more calories than an average person in 15 min tho, I’m doing 200 cal max in that time. As you lose significant weight you actually burn less calories for equivalent intensity because there’s less resistance. But it’s true that running 8 miles is a breeze these days, going harder and burning more calories than last time! Thanks coach Greg

Bear in mind those one hour numbers are going to be pretty maximal efforts, you're going to have to be working at your threshold to achieve numbers like that. A pro male athlete at 150 lbs at an endurance/tempo intensity (amateurs bleed from the eyes at comparable output) is burning about 850 calories per hour for non-load bearing activity and about 1K per hour for load-bearing activities like running. A super fit amateur can probably take 25% right off the top of those numbers at a similar RPE.

I'm currently somewhere between moderately active and fit, starting to see more of my abs and I'm getting closer to an hour of cardio a day. I've also increased my pull-up reps since I've lost weight. Curious to know what the calculator says

Wait I'm confused guys isn't it the case that the more cardio you do the more efficient you are burning calories? Which means you burn less calories the more you do intensive workout. I heard that's called metabolic adaptation

I always chose sedentary for my calorie counters, even though I work out at least 3 times/week, do some form of cardio daily and do walk etc. If I add my activity calories I use the ones my Garmin watch gives me, although I'm not reaeating them and stay around the calculated 500 kcal/day deficit for sedentary people of my weight. It does work quite well and even if I count "wrong" and don't measure everything out to the mg I will still lose a bit of weight :) But according to your chart I would be on the higher end of moderately active O.O Fascinating tbh
@n0kodoko1433 жыл бұрын
Thanks, these calculators make it super hard to tell how much I'm burning per hour.
@mbvglider3 жыл бұрын
The easiest way for me is to think of total distance, i.e. total work performed. Burning calories means you have to create motion, i.e. kinetic energy, and the work performed is the amount of kinetic energy required for that activity. For the most part, this is determined by what kind of activity are you doing (biking, running, elliptical, etc.), how much weight are you moving (i.e. your body), and for how far (how many miles did you travel)? While running burns more calories per mile than walking, that's because those are two different exercises. Running fast and running slow actually burn almost the exact same calories per mile, but running fast means you can travel longer distances in the same amount of time, so your energy used per hour would be higher. That is to say, if you're 150 pounds, running a 10k will burn 800 calories no matter what. But if you're fit, you can do that in an hour, and if you're super fit, you can do that in 50 minutes. If you're using a machine, always look at the totals to see how much total work you did in that workout because that's going to tell you more about how many calories you burned than how long you took to do it.
@n0kodoko1433 жыл бұрын
@@mbvglider awesome, this makes sense. I usually just Heather totals from whatever bio-tracker I'm wearing (but it does not calculate for levels of fitness, which is why I always question the numbers it gives me).

Tip for people with fitness trackers: the first time you go for a walk (or now onwards), set a time limit for cardio (weather it be 30 minutes or 1 hour) and walk at a moderate intensity to see how many steps you get. The next day, just tell yourself to get more steps than the day before, weather it be 10 steps, or even 100, but I would say to not progress by more than 100 steps per day, just to stay away from cramps and injuries. Basically progressive overload, but with cardio.

This was a huge motivator. I’m 230 lbs and can normally walk 3-3.5 miles in hour at a 10-15 incline with a little more than moderate effort. The treadmill tells me I’m burning around 600 calories but it’s good to know that it’s a lot more than that. Can’t wait to do some more cardio.

I'd imagine that's where a lot of us who watch this content fall. Where Coach Greg defined "fit," basically you need to be able to run 6 miles in an hour while being able to hold a conversation, whereas "moderately active" means you can complete about 4. I'd say 4 is pretty easy for most people who have done regular cardio for several weeks, but I definitely can't be chatting if I'm trying to maintain a 10 min mile pace for a whole 10k, lol. So I bought cookbook 2.0 a little over a month ago. (Amazing shit btw) now I’m curious on the training programs. However I box so for the sport I do And what boxing trainers say and have said for years is that a lot of exercises are not really smart or effective for boxing. That for boxing I would have to train muscles to work off of fast twitch muscle fibers. So I can bench press but not for max weight more so for explosion and lower weight. What do you think Coach Greg? This might be a great video topic to be honest. Lots of guys in the fighting industry don’t know what to do in the weight room other then try to replicate what you do in a ring. Lots of guys are doing punching motions with 2.5 or 5lb dumbbells or kettlebells over and over and over. This is a area we need help in

Do the opposite of what u do in your boxing training in the weight room. What I mean by this is I’m assuming you’re doing a significant amount of cardio in your actual boxing training so, you do not need more of that stimulus. So your focus in the weight room should be a mix of explosive movements (cleans, high pulls, etc) and strength training focusing on the main movements (squat, OHP, deadlift) low reps too. Hope this helps.

I wouldn’t say that. Even with pharmaceutical assistance, my weight loss still hit a plateau. Most people lose the most weight in the first week. For most people the weight loss, by week, is something like 10+, then 6 the second week, maybe 4-5 the third week, and then about 1-2 each week after that. For me, I lost about .6 pounds a day and still hit a plateau after ~33 pounds.
