I was in high school when this song came out. Never really understood the deeper meaning of the video until now at 33. How when the moment of impact happens, all of the victims family members are tossed around too as if they were also in the accident. Showing that a tragedy like that doesn’t just impact the victims, but their loved ones as well.

This song is being sung from the addicts point of view but the part of the video that gets me the most is the part when both cars crash and the family flies through the house and windows bust and that describes like no other how the family and myself were impacted when we found out our daughter laid dead in a yard. I think lots of people didn't get this song right. This song is actually about the perspective of the drunk driver. When he woke up, he is confused about what just happened, but when he realized it, he knew he fucked up so bad. And now he needed to pay the price from doing things that he didn't even realize he was doing. At first I think this is such a cliche song, but after I learned the true meaning, I think the band described how the drunk driver felt perfectly. If this song isn't this over the top cliche, I don't think Simple Plan really described how the drunk driver actually feels.
@MatiasLD874 жыл бұрын
yeah... it is a cliche song.
@Txtysbth03044 жыл бұрын
I think the video is not from the driver perspective. It is from the perspective of the family who lost their member in the car accident. Like how one moment you are living normal life and when tragedy happens not only person who dies is gone but the normality of the family member is gone too. Thats why we see things crashing which represents the world of family member crashing. I used to watch this a lot in my teens or early 20s in mtv if not wrong. I still remember this music video clearly in my 30s
@MsMeteorShower4 жыл бұрын
"In a joint letter with MADD, Simple Plan explained the events in the video:[1] 'This song is a very personal look at what happens when tragedy hits close to home and we wanted to make a video that was as powerful and as special as the song was to the five of us. Over the last few years, a lot of people we know have been involved in tragic accidents caused by drinking and driving. One of the students at our high-school crashed his car driving back from a weekend trip and killed his best friend. It was a very sad time that none of us will ever forget. This is the story we wanted to tell with this video: the story of all the innocent victims caused by drinking and driving. We hope you will take the time to watch the video. Thanks for all your support.'"

but mistakes were done in the past, and nothing can turn back time, no apologises and no suicide. all we can do is hope that people will forgive us, because that is the greatest present ever. so suicide would only make everything worse, because it would hurt the people who love you and care about you,no matter how many mistakes you might have done in your life. see it that way: you would hurt even more people, and therefore even more people would be in pain, so you will do everyone a favour if you stay alive, because those who love you will forgive you, and even if it doesn't seem like they love you, they often do

@@jedelusional I used to be very suicidal about half a year ago, but I stayed alive because I didn't want to hurt the ones I love. I've been clean for cutting for about 2 weeks now and even tho I'm still a bit suicidal, everything is getting better now, I have an amazing boyfriend and I'm feeling so much better than last year! and I learned that time can heal everything, and no matter what happens, there are always people who care about you and who love you, and it's worth living for them!

I used to sing this during highschool days just because I like the song. but now that I understand what this song means, I even love it more. Simple Plan's songs save me from my chaos. every time I'm battling with my demons I always find myself listening to their songs. Simple Plan is my comfort during my darkest days. it's 2024 but whenever I'm listening to this, it's still like the first time. ❤️

This song would always make me emotional, even when I was little. I forgot what it was, but if I had to guess, it's probably the fear of losing one of my loved ones. I know it's bound to happen, but it would still hurt. Now when I hear it, it gives me loads of nostalgia. Makes me emotional. I will cherish this song. ❤

NostalgicCringe All hail chelsea it's actually not humor. "The night goes on as I'm fading away" your not part of the world if you're not existing hints why the song is called untitled. @kristajohnson91739 ай бұрын
But like... you get that somebody singing this whiny ass song after hitting a person while drunk driving is the epitome of how annoying and self-involved the whole emo genre was, right? Nothing happened to him, he caused all his own problems and destroyed a lot of lives. And it was absolutely his own fault. And the song is somehow about HIS pain? And every emo kid was the same way like that, they were so narcissistic- everything was about how hard THEIR life was, to the point that they didn't care about anyone else. Always playing the victim, and using that status to abuse the people around them. The worst part is they were all rich white kids with zero real problems.

For those who think the song is funny that song was made to explain the pain and sadness that the family of her ex girlfriend feel when Her ex girlfriend and actually bestfriends was kill in an accident due to alcohol driving it was her best friend that died and he try to explain the feeling he had at that moment imagine your sister dying in a car accident just imagine the feeling... he was in the car while that happen and he survive .. so imagine how guilty you would feel if that has happen To you.. fuck man people today doesn't know how to inform themselve and care for others or even know respect seriously you are all dumb man to mocked about that. The song was made to explain how the world shake around you and change the way you see life and live with the guilt of being alive and people that accuse you for being alive and didn't have made anything or think when that happen This is why the lyrics said how could this happen To me I knew him IRL i know a lot of information that you little peasent don't know even the media doesn't know that because he was à teenager while that happen and in Canada when you are minor no info on your name or etc is disclose!
