Can I use fat grips on a normal bar, and could that slightly bigger range of motion on a bench be beneficial? The Gym has no fat bar.

I’m not sure how I feel about the study saying grip strength = longer life. This shows correlation, but did they take jnto account the SICK will be WEAKER and that may be the cause rather than the grip strength itself? Otherwise fantastic content for sure! It will never hurt to jncreas eur grippers

Great video! One question - Could the studies showing higher grip strength in older people leading to more muscle mass, also be the other way around? That older people with more muscle mass just have higher grip strength? Not trolling, just a serious question - is this more of a case of "correlation" versus "causation"? As an "older" lifter I find this really interesting, but am wondering how the researchers know it's the actual grip strength that causes more muscle and not the other way around. Or even something completely different - like older people with higher testosterone levels have higher grip strength and more muscle?
@GarageStrength2 жыл бұрын
I do think that could be part of the issue as well. To fully figure that out, we would need more analysis on all fronts for more clarity. Great point!

I do not understand how a fat bar will make all these changes?
@user263442 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that you will put a lot more effort into gripping the bar which means you will subconsciously put more effort during the entire lift. It’s the same effect as squeezing a normal bar as hard as you can during a lift: you put more force into the bar during the lift than if you haphazardly grip it. Kinda hard to explain, so you should try it out at the gym sometime
