Fun fact: making into Arditi was already hard and the training was the hardest. Some of the Arditi died during training. Their hand to hand prowess wasn't just because they had a knife: they studied a 15th century military manual that had a lot of dagger fighting situations, joint locks, wrestling and anything useful for really close encounters. Few of them carried pistols, preventing cross fire incidents in the trenches.

When I was in the Yorkshire Regiment of the British army, I trained with the Gurkhas once. I got to hear them talk, fight and March. I have nothing but the upmost respect for them and all I can say is I’m glad their on our side

The reason for the Comanche coming south is because of the Sioux they never went back. Chased the Kiowa south too, a small Sioux war party numbered about 2000 warriors, a small Comanche war party was far less even with their Kiowa allies. Back then I'd say it was safe to say the Sioux outnumbered the Comanche 10 to 1, the Sioux were numerous and just as fierce as the Comanche.

My grandfather was a US Army engineer in the India-China-Burma campaign. He commanded a unit of black engineers attached to a British engineering outfit. Attached to this outfit were gurkhas, who provided security during daylight building operations (the Burma Road) and night time patrols. Grandfather said he had the greatest respect for them. If, as an officer you told them No One gets into this building, then, you were likely to find a dead body outside the building, typically a Japanese soldier. He said they were pure killers.

My grandmother used to live in Brunei and Oman and the head of the Gurkhas was a bird watcher, so was she so when she spotted a bird he'd been looking for a while he gave her a ceremonial knife with a place in it saying who gifted it and who received it.

among the arditi there was also a Japanese man who was a Japanese teacher in Naples, he joined the army and subsequently enlisted as a volunteer in the arditi, he was nicknamed "Il Camerata Samurai" and taught the way of Karate to the arditi Italians. His name was Harukichi Shimoi.🇮🇹🤝🏻🇯🇵

The Sioux are the reason the Comanche went south, and never raided much north of their lands because the Cheyenne. Us Army said it was the Sioux that was the best. Comanche were beat by a handful of Texas Rangers, also the Sioux are the only tribe to capture the American flag from the US Army. But the mountain men who knew the natives the best said it was the Blackfoot that were the best. In case anyone wondered why Comanche raiding lands never came that far up north but way deep into Mexico. The Comanche are only known because of their brutality, they aren't that good at fighting without a horse. The Blackfoot, Sioux, Cheyenne all dismounted to fight.

I'm a Cree and Saultaux, many of our relative tribes forget that us Cree and Anishnaabe are the ones who drove those out, we are the ones that have such vast majority because we would obliterate the Dené, Sioux, Blackfoot, Shawnee, Pawnee, Inuit and sometimes even the Mohawks, but the Mohawks were formidable fighters.

During ww1 French soilders reported that serbs ran faster then their horses during battle while carrying all of their equipment without hesitation or fear. There are many more other stories of courage by serbs during ww1 but most of have been lost to time

Well his tribe Ngati Toa wasn’t totally defeated he actually led them on a migration south from kawhia to Kapiti island and then used it as a base of operations to raid and conquer the lower north island before ravaging the South Island for greenstone and Utu after his uncle was killed by Ngai Tahu.

Yes he hid from his enemy in a Kumara pit with friendly female villager blocking the entrance to it by sitting over it peeling kumara, The actual lyrics of that haka are not the usual provocative bravado and threats of violence usually found in haka but the story of that defeated cheif looking up through the legs of that woman and seeing the sunlight shine through her pubic hairs as he contemplated wether he would survive to see the next day

History fact for those who do not know New Zealand history. What caused the war between the Maori and Pakeha, often called the New Zealand land wars, was a mistranslation of a treaty known as the Treaty of Waitangi. Just felt like pointing that out to anyone who was interested.

Have great respect for the gurkhas a gurkha saved my grandfather's life when he was serving in Oman really nice people I grew up around them were I lived in England and they are not the biggest most imposing of men but they are tough bastards if you're unlucky enough to have a fight with one let's just say I saw a 5 foot 8 gurkha friend of mine absolutely decimate a 6 foot guy that hit him

Maori revolutionised trench warfare, and successfully implemented trench warfare designs and tactics that rivalled the superior technology and numbers of colonial forces. As the british took those lessons into future conflicts (world wars being notable examples), Maori essentially modernised trench warfare and showed others how to best utilise your surroundings during battle preparations. I'd wager that many cultures used some form of trench warfare (Romans did it 1,000 years before Maori) but none did it as effectively or devastatingly as the Maori@@ismaeljimenez6562

Gorkhali people are the most humble , nice and helpful people until you do something which will force them to take our their Khukhuri. Nothing but respect for the Nepalese out there . Although they are so skilled and powerful in warfare they maintain their calmness and choose peace over violence. But when Nepal needs them they will butcher anyone that touches their peaceful land. Its amazing really, Nepal such a beautiful place with mountains and rivers and the fact that Lord Buddha was born there makes it so peace friendly country and I guess that having responsibility of protecting such a place would make anyone a skilled warrior .

Spain was also the dominant power of Europe for nearly 200 years during the era of pike and shot and played a pivotal role in liberating Budapest from the Ottoman Empire. Also, nice addition to the list would be Bosniaks in Austrohungarian army in WW1, unit known for fighting till the end in the style of janissaries, to the point where Austrohungaria would dispatch red feses (which were specific for Bosniaks) to other units in order to scare enemies

I remember that warrior vs warrior series. Exactly like the predator vs predator series You know Tiger vs Lion and Crocodile vs Shark. In case you've never seen it, they give all their stats, weight, bite force, armour, agility, weapons, tooth and claw length, strengths, weaknesses. Then they have an animated fight at the end to see who takes it. The tiger was bigger and stronger, and gets the initial upper hand, but the Lion was a more experienced fighter, fitter, with a bigger heart. Lion wins. The shark was way faster in the water than the croc and was bullying the croc landing many bites, but the crocs armour and strong thrashing made it hard for the shark to get a good bite and hold. When the shark came back around for another go he came in for a side shot and the croc spun around and clamped on to its nose and started death spinning. Then it stopped holding the shark belly up. When sharks are belly up they go docile. Then the croc let go, the docile shark floating helpless in the water, swum around, and chomped straight into the sharks torso. Croc wins. The warrior series was the same. The only difference was the fight at the end was filmed with actors instead of animated like the animal series. Stats like average height, weight, weapons, armour, agility ability, training, strengths and weaknesses, and experts in each field discussing all variables. Apache vs Gladiator , and Maori warrior vs Shaolin Monk were two. The Apache ends up being far too athletic and agile for the Gladiator. Apache wins. The Maori is kicking the Shaolin Monk from pillar to post as they were twice the size, more powerful and athletic, and a martial artist too. The Shaolin Monk is battered and bleeding and on the ropes, but still standing, The cocky Maori moves in to deliver the death blow, as the monk looks forlornly into his eyes and seems resigned to his fate, when out of nowhere, he puts two long sharp metal knitting needles into each side of the Maori's head. Steel weapons and the Maori's overconfidence were the keys to this result.

You've made a video about these warriors and how their tradition beheading the enemy every time they defeated them caused fear to the invading Imperial Japanese Army in Borneo tropical rainforests with their specialty in jungle warfare, their expertise in camouflage that makes them invisible to the enemy and their silent poisonous blow darts and arrows that make enemies's faced unexpected death. Because that's what they're mostly gonna lose other than their lives. Their feet, when they unknowingly stepped into booby traps that were made from sharpened sticks and mines that till these days, there are still live booby traps and land mines in Vietnam jungles.

Firstly the Gurkhas never served the British during the Indian War of Independence ( Which you condescend to call the Indian Mutiny )They was a column sent by the ruler to aid the British, as was the Sikhs who were sent by their ruler to aid the British. Both had their own agendas. Secondly one cannot depict exceptional warriors without mentioning the Sultan of Sulus Tausug warriors. When the western powers dominated the seas & setting up their colonial empires. They opted to pay protection money to the sultan rather than face the Tausug warriors in battle.

Tatars by Christian Europeans, Cossacks by Turkish and Muslim Balkan, German SS, Polish Winged Hussars, Swiss Mercanaries (Reislaeufer) and Mongols feared by all enemies. Winged hussars are one of the most efficient units during history, usually fought outnumbered. There was a time, where they just have to show of and the enemy surrender, because mercenaries don't want to fight against them. Swiss mercenaries (had to) fight to death, because of their fighting style, press forward through the enemy or get squezed by your own people from behind. Mongols because of their high flexibility, to fight and find the weekness of every kind of enemy, speed and cruelity.
