I totally agree. My priority right now is self care. I meditate 30 minutes a day, normally upon waking up. Do my daily walking then simple yoga poses. Then attend to house chores. Not to overwhelm me for the day. I don’t do multitasking.

I just came across your channel and you are absolutely singing my tune. I am working toward a simpler life and already I am noticing the relief that comes with that simplicity. I am starting to feel like I have more mental space to focus on things that are important in my life. My house is becoming the tranquil space I always wanted it to be and I just feel more grounded. Thank you for creating the perfect channel for me and for others. X

What a breath of fresh air you are. I spent my life pleasing others to the extent I felt guilty if I ever spent a moment considering what I wanted to do. I thought I was being selfish and it was unchristian. If I wasn’t stressed out I felt I wasn’t doing my bit. How mad is that. No more now though. A bit late in life but better late than never. Thank you for your wonderful videos.

I am a mother of 6 grown children .We divorced when the oldest was 12 and the youngest 2 1/2 .I was able to homeschool all if them .When people came into our home they would say we thought you would have more toys for 6 kuds They had plenty of toys, books art supplies and 11 avres of land to build forts and climb on big rocks I wish I knew about simple living and minimalism when I was raising them .Now that my 2 daughters have children I am gently trying to introduce them to minimalism and slow living.Yhankfully there are young mothers their ages that have joined the minimalist and slow living movement and are sharing their stories.

Connie, I found your channel in a time of my life I needed CALM… I am a minimalist, but my family has had a stressful 2022… my married daughter needed back surgery, I needed meniscus tear knee surgery, my beautiful little cat is very sick right now, and a dozen of other little things, I think we have a black cloud over us right now, but your video will always calm my nerves, your soft , calming voice always helps me take a deep breath I want to say Thank you❤️ We have a walking trail and a lake here in my community, and I can’t wait to recovery and take a walk with my husband on the trail and sit and look at the lake…

I’m so sorry you’ve had such a stressful start to the year. I’ve just had to have emergency back surgery a few weeks ago to remove a tumour from my spine, so I can sympathise with your daughter’s situation, I can also understand your desire to be healed enough to get out in nature and take a walk. It will happen, just take each day as it comes. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your daughter and your beautiful cat. 🐈⬛🙏🏻

Always love your videos, Connie. They are reminders of how I want to live my life. Habits that I have established that help me lead a more simple and mindful life include daily morning prayer/meditation/spiritual reading. A 30 minute walk on my lunch hour and right after work. Scheduling time with friends for a phone call, walk or lunch/dinner together. Same with my husband and sons. Being part of a 12-step fellowship and enjoying time at church activities and cultural events. Keep up the good work!

Dear Connie, thank you for your honest, genuine, gentle and wise content. I have been on a journey with similar objectives to yours. Some solutions I implemented that helped me: 1. calm mornings with no rush and time for simple self care (usually reading in bed with a cup of coffee)-to achieve this I had to turn myself from a lifelong night owl to a morning lark, but oh it was sooo worth it; mornings turned from being my least favourite to my most favourite time of day. 2. Leave work worries at work. I trained myself (it wasn’t easy!) to stop thinking about work the moment I step out of my workplace. As a result I am now so high and full of energy in the evenings and have such wonderful quality time with my family. I realised that work worries were draining my energy in the evenings. 3. Designate and plan “Us time” with my daughter-I work long hours and weekends a lot but because we plan “us time” we are very close with my only daughter. It broke my heart in the past that I lacked time to build a close relationship with her, but I found a way to make time and it has paid of. 4. Find a hobby that also has a practical aspect and that is easily doable every single day-mine are cooking and reading (also I have “treat days” grocery shopping and spending time in my fave bookshop when I can as an extension of my daily hobbies). For context, 2 years ago I hadn’t read a book cover to cover for over 10 years and I would start hyperventilating if my husband asked me to make a salad! 5. Discourage people sending you pointless e-mails by having an auto reply all of the time. Mine says I only have 3 hours in my working week to check and reply to my e-mails and if you don’t’ get a reply in 2 weeks and the issue is still needing my attention to re-send the e-mail. It worked like a dream! In the past it got so bad that I developed a genuine phobia of e-mails ( I would feel physically sick when it was time to log in to check my inbox). 6. Make friends at work-I always felt I should keep it professional with people at work but since I work a lot I ended up friendless and feeling lonely because I was keeping a professional distance. The hell with that. I now feel surrounded by love not only at home but also at work. 7. Always leave the bedroom tidy in the morning so you come back to a zen heaven in the evening after a crazy work day. There is more but now I have my daughter here and want to spend time with her. Good bye!

Thank you for sharing these often simple principles that over time we tend to overlook ~ especially in this time of so much societal expectation. A key change for me was to recognise stress escalating and to take time out, however simp,y, and to reset. This requires being in the moment about how one is delivering and often just involves a few deep breaths before moving on slower.

We moved from a 5 bedroom house with 2 car garage and 2 storage rooms to a small 2 bdrm condo with very little storage. We both have a great deal of stuff to use in our creative work. It’s been a year and we are still not settled and organized. Plus we both have chronic health issues that limit our energy. Seems that just keeping up with the daily messes from cooking etc are all we can manage. However, I have been purging clothing and “products”. It’s very slow but am making a bit of progress.

I think one has to introspect in their daily activities and prioritize the tasks which are most important to them not on the basis of materials like money, desires, ecstacy, pleasure of luxuries etc. One needs to understand that life is for living happily within oneself than searching happiness elsewhere in materials that we pile up unnessoserily, As they say less is more and more is less sadly most of the people can't feel full satisfaction and spend their entire life in competing with others for more instead focusing on less which is really valuable. So naturally they turn out to be be an easy target for depression which is the modern time mental pandamic the cure to defeat that mental monster is to focuse on what we have rather than what others have. Self containment is the path towards happy and joyful life.
