Speedrunning Mario Odyssey at 1% movement speed

We modded Super Mario Odyssey so that Mario Moves as ridiculously and incredibly slow. Being the speedrunner I am I had to try speedrunning the game with this mod, enjoy the video!

If you'd make Mario move at actual 1% speed, Mario wouldn't be able to walk. The walking and running animation is tied to your speed. 1% wouldn't be fast enough to trigger Mario walking, thus you are unable to move

@@terriblejokefactory8831 mod the walking to start at lower speeds? Also an animation not triggering doesn't prevent you from moving. It'd look weird, but there's no reason it wouldn't be possible - it's a computer game.

@@alansmithee419 When you move the analog stick in a direction, it generates a speed value for Mario. If that value is below a certain point the game considers Mario standing, and thus, not moving. If his speed value cannot reach the minimum for walking (the action that needs the smallest value to activate), Mario cannot iniate an action that allows him to move. Essentially, Mario has speed, but that speed doesn't allow him to move. The animation activates at the same time as the walking state does, so it's a good indicator.

I think the reason that Mario moves slower downhill than uphill is because he falls slowly. When you go uphill, your feet always touch the ground, but when going downhill, you keep losing momentum by constantly going from on the ground to in the air. That's my theory, anyway, im no expert.
