I'm pretty sure the weird blurb about the starburst symbol in Lost Kingdom is actually in the in-game pamphlet describing the Lost Kingdom. I have read those things way too many times lol.

Yeah I realized at some point in the run that a lot of the blurbs at the very beginning of each section are just taken directly from the game. It made reading them a lot less exciting haha

I love how he used Puzzle Plank Galaxy music exactly when he was describing the starburst symbol, since it was heavily used in that galaxy on buttons, planks, and pillars just like Lost Kingdom.

Honestly this kinda makes me want to write one of these books. I feel like I could do a pretty good job walking a player through the main game and also mentioning extra stuff they can do if they want to. Maybe I could even have a speedrun section!

For Odyssey, I think each kingdom would get three different sections: 1. So you want to do world peace? OK, go this way, and here are a few easy extra moons along the way to get you to the quota. 2. So you don't like this kingdom and want to see the next one? OK, here's the minimum-effort easy moon route to hit the quota as soon as possible. 3. So you want to get *_everything?_* OK, here's a full glossary of every moon and purple coin in this kingdom, with descriptions of exactly how to get each one, cross-referenced with a map of course. That's not counting the speedrun route/strat guides for the kingdoms, which I would put separately at the end of the book. Multiple categories, even.

I thought you were gonna use Assist Mode during the run in which that’s what Nintendo actually intended. SmallAnt has done that. But you use the Super Mario Odyssey Guidebooks to beat the game. Big difference. I think CJ is gonna do the same challenge but combine both Assist Mode & The Guidebook.

i own this guidebook. back when my parents still bought me games, they usually grabbed the official guidebook for them too. i have them for SMG2, SM3DL/W, SSB4, and a couple more. unlike all the other ones, I _never_ read the one for SMO. maybe because it was missing an extensive description of "lady goombas"...

Classic Prima, getting small things wrong that make progression more difficult if you're relying on the guide. Though for what it's worth, the Galaxy 2 one only didn't include the secret 1-Ups in Rightside Down Galaxy and I didn't really have an issue finishing it (some Stars were hard, though).

The original idea i had was to purchase like 10 different bootleg books and pit them against each other. But I noticed after looking at some of the previews of the various bootleg guides that a lot of them were just the exact same book under different titles. I think a lot of those listings have been removed by now though.
