"We're kind of done of this whole area here"......thankfully thinks Marc 😂. That was some great skill and effort you've put in there, should be proud of yourself.

Take the bonnet lip off! Mk1 grille would look so nice on a sports pack car! You know it makes sense 👍🏼 it's really starting to come together now 👍🏼

Aha this might happen depends what the owner would like so will leave it up to them. Cheers for watching hopefully we see some front end pics soon.

If they're rhibo wings with magnum FE I had the same issue with getting the bonnet gaps nice. Muscle, force and panel screws!
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching, yes the issues I am having with these wings match the sidewalk as well. Bloody annoying but got to keep pushing on I guess 👍
@midgelambert38803 жыл бұрын
It's taking shape nicely Marc. In your opinion why do the newer classic Minis have such rust issues. You would have thought by the nineties basic Mini bodies would have been built to last longer. Cheers, Midge
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy, I believe it was just building on a budget and using sun standard materials. Most 90’s minis are missing seal sealer. And most of the time paint wasn’t even used in closed areas it’s shame but rover really didn’t help with the last cars.

Hi Marc like some previous post I would like to see how panel bond might work in the wing to scuttle gap, I see some old school suggesting Take Care Stay Safe Everyone Regards Dave 👍😎🏴filling the gap with lead but panel bond would do as it says and fill the gap.
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy yes there will definitely be some sort of sealant in the gaps for sure. The main issue with the lower part should pull tight and like mentioned I will be there cutting it back out again to make way for the sportspack wheel arch mod. Cheers for watching Dave stay safe 👍
@patadamson40053 жыл бұрын
Awesome job. Great to see Ho you did that. I guess I am going to have to take my wing off to do it. I wonder if panelbond would be an alternative? It would seal it up like a drum at least?
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pat. This little front end will take some time to sort for sure but will be worth it in the end. Panel bond is a good idea. I have seen this used before.

I'd love to be able to do something like this but I don't have the patience. Have you ever accidently welded either a clamp or molegrip to a car?
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
It definitely takes patience for sure. No I haven’t ever done that aha but have seen people who have.
@bosroamer3 жыл бұрын
Really curious how you're going to tackle the gap between the frontpanel and the paravan, leave it open? Welt it shut? Lead loading? (which is what I did)
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s going to take some work for sure. But remember like mentioned the very edge will get cut away to make room for the 13” wheels so I won’t be going mad with it.
@porroh8693 жыл бұрын
Looking good..would you recommend magnum wings or pay the extra for heritage or M machine? Cheers
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely pay the extra if you can. The issue lies more with the front panel. I have found magnum wings fit nice with a heritage front panel. But it’s all about budget and time I guess.

Hi mate, just started watching your videos and I love them! Thinking of getting a mini (not sure on what model... whatever is cheapest!) to restore/modify and use it as my first car. Are they good cars for a beginner/ first car? If you dont mind me asking, roughly how much does each car cost in total (buying it and restoring it)? Cheers mate
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
Hey firstly thanks for watching out channel and supporting us. I would say a mini is a great first time restoration vehicle. Early cars are very simple to work on and bits are easy enough to find. If you watch our budget clubman build that might be a good bit of information for you. But it all really does depend on how good the car is to start with and what year/model you want to restore. Please ask away with any questions you have 👍

@@SimpsonsClassics cheers for the quick reply mate. Much appreciated. Thinking of getting a 90s one, not sure on the model, most likely a cooper as a city might be pushing it for BHP on the motorway lol. I'll have a watch at that series and hopefully pick up some tips and tricks! Thanks :)
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
@@firestrikingaviation9978 hey no worries I would say a late cooper would be fine on the motorways just watch for rust on the later cars and try and buy something as original as possible as value would be better also less chances of any silly issues due to bad mods. Cheers for supporting the channel 👍
@firestrikingaviation99783 жыл бұрын
@@SimpsonsClassics thanks mate, will most likely get a 1990-2000 model as I believe they are the only ones with airbags. Might do like you did on your clubman and basically build it from scratch, was worried about how to remove rust etc but after seeing your video (think it was 3rd one in the clubman series) it looks a lot easier than I imagined. Now just looking for courses on welding and I can get to it 😁
@SimpsonsClassics3 жыл бұрын
@@firestrikingaviation9978 I believe 96 to 2000 was air bags cars. Mine blue one is a 95 and the one of the last years without an airbag. I honestly think if you have the space for it getting the shell right and rust free it’s the best way as you can then enjoy the journey of modifying and personalisation of the car knowing it’s all good underneath. Like I say any questions fire away 👍
