A note, sometimes you may need to move the graphicsrules and .ini file to the desktop on Win10. I couldnt edit them until placed outside the folders as it error'd that I needed to 'contact the file owner to edit' Edit: thanks so much for this, was able to do all this in about 15min and my pc is so quiet now. I have a 2060 and it was running hot and loud as a jet engine, now it's nearly silent. 8)

Thank you! I had already followed other recommendations, but I modified some things along with what you show and it helped a even more. It bugs me how poorly optimized this game is, even after all these modifications, not having impeccable performance on the machine I use today is something surreal.

hey, sorry for the late reply. A core i3 is more lower end range but can run sims 3. My processor is a ryzen 5 5600 but I recently upgraded from a intel i7 3rd gen. I most likely would of stayed with the i7 but for life by you, it's not good enough. For sims 3 and 4 if you're looking to upgrade, you wouldn't have to go for anything that's too much unless you like fast paced games too like COD or something

I hope it helps! I just went thru a nightmare of the save 12 error code and had to reset all my settings, somehow everything went back to default. I'm thinking a gpu update but no idea? good idea to check yr settings are still intact once in awhile is my unsolicited advice

Good video with simple overrides for performance. I have issue with Smooth Patch 1.2.1 where "when i drop .package mods" UI bugs out and makes existing saves unusable. Deleting it don't make this fatal error. Anyways thanks. now i can see full 165 FPS on my Sims 3

Thank you! If you are running the game with steam or disk at 1.67 it’s my understanding that the smooth patch doesn’t work. Otherwise you would need version 2.1 but I’m not sure about it causing these kind of issues. Have you tried running the game at 60 fps?

At around 15:50 you talk about the seti texture memory number that it doesn't need to be any higher; Mine is at 4096 do I need to lower it or is that still fine?

If you’re not having any issues like crashes or anything, I don’t see the harm in leaving it. The game won’t use more than what it’s designed to use.

Glad it was helpful:) sorry for the confusion. If you have the smooth patch only then you would have to start the game through the install file so navigate to the drive usually c: drive > the sims 3 > game > bin and run the game by clicking TS3PatchLauncher.exe Or you could also install the custom launcher modthesims.info/d/662581/ld-s-sims3launcher-origin-1-69.html and then you can run the game as normal Which I would recommend:)

@KozyKubGam3r yes thank you but i did all the steps, so i don't only just have the smooth patch. i did all the gpu related stuff. so with the gpu and all do i still open it through the smooth patch version or the normal sims game? i only had the smooth patch for like a few weeks and opened it from there until i heard people talking about needing to change the gpu and all that. sorry if i'm easily confused 😅

@@bunnsiespetra If I understand correctly and you don't have the smooth patch anymore. You can just start the game normally. But because I didn't see this message until 5 days later I'm assuming you already figured it out. The smooth patch and gpu settings are separate. The gpu settings has nothing to do with how you start your game. Only if you have the smooth patch would you then have to open up as I described above, hope that makes sense

Oh sorry, I’ve heard this with others with lower end pc’s with little RAM (4gb) and also if using an HDD. But if you’re on a mid range to better I’m not quite sure what factors play into why it wouldn’t make any difference at all

@@Idk34227 That's enough to run the game yes but depending on your graphic card (being a low end laptop I'm assuming it's integrated Intel?) and depending on how much space you have on your drive with some other variables to consider, then no the smooth patch won't make much of a difference if at all unfortunately. I would suggest getting a mid range gaming desktop if you can with at least 16gb ram for multi tasking and having a ssd drive specifically for gaming and a separate one for your operating system. It would also be good to have another drive for storage oc. Also with a dedicated gpu. Sims 3 is graphics intensive and can be massively slowed down by virtual RAM caching depending. But also limit CC if any and always check for bad cc. Sims 3 has so many different bugs and there's is so many variables to consider which makes seemingly small issues very hard to pin down and fix.

Hi, I’ve recently changed my laptop, it has 13th generation cpu and an integrated GPU. My game crashes and instantly stopes after 10-20 minutes of playing. I have had this problem since I installed the game. I have tried the NRAS mode and Smooth patch, I have also downloaded the GPU Add On and modified what you suggested and it still crushes under 20 minutes of playing. Can you please help me ? I rlly love this game and I cant find a fix..

hi Andra:) is yr processor an Intel 13 gen? If so you might need the Alder Lake patch if you haven't tried yet..Lazy Duchess made a fix. Just make sure to read the description through on how to install modthesims.info/d/667734/intel-alder-lake-patch.html Hope this helps!

Hi Grimmiex. It’s more than likely that you need to grant permission. Right click on the graphic rules file> properties >security tab> usernames> click yr name> edit>click yr name>click all checkboxes under allow >apply n save :) should fix it

Have you tried troubleshooting your pc audio? I would start there. If it only happens with Sims 3 it might be a virtual memory thing. Because some of the virtual memory is paged to the hard drive so depending how much space you have on your hard drive. You might need to free up space. Make sure yr drivers are updated as well. Nraas Overwatch might help too. I’ve never experienced that issue before, knock on wood lol! But the game does do weird things if the page filing can’t do what it needs to do which also causes error 12.

@@KozyKubGam3r Yeah have went through the audio troubleshooting.I have sims 3 on my c drive,same as windows 11 and there's over 70GB left on the SSD.I recently upgraded from windows 10 to 11 along with changing from a GTX 1080 to a Radeon 6750 XT and went from 16GB Ram to 32 and Ryzen 1600 to 3600 all drivers etc are up to date.It's only the Sims i have the issue is with,fifa football(soccer)also on the EA app gave the same audio problem but stopped eventually but the Sims hasn't stopped. @@KozyKubGam3r Yeah i've done audio troubleshooting etc.Fifa which i have on the EA app had audio problems but did stop but Sims is having the problem,all drivers are up to date I recently upgraded my pc and got Windows 11 and it has started since then,all other games are ok tho.I have Sims on my main c drive and there is a decent bit of room left(over 70GB)the game runs ok apart from the sound.

@@davidhenry1156 Have you tried limiting the fps to 60? You can do this with Lazy Duchess smooth patch. If Fps is running up and down with no limit it can cause weird issues and hurt the gpu also. Try that and let me know Edit: Also I recommend checking your power shell version seeing as you just upgraded to windows 11 and if you need an update this might help

As far as I've experienced the smoothpatch is compatible with the majority of mods including nraas mods. It's always worked fine for me and I do have almost every Nraas mod:)

Don't feel silly, I would of been asking the same thing and have in the past when I was stuck with the same thing. I had thought if you own the computer you automatically had full control of your files but I guess that would be too easy lol!
