Merci beaucoup, Guy! I have to admit, it's been over 20 years since I regularly spoke French (I ended up studying German and moving to Germany so little need for it now), but I did well at school with it and would love to pick it up again!

The song was written with suicidal thoughts. ‘Why do I live, why do I die’. It’s a question about existence, and contemplating that death would be better. Sadly the last two person who sang this (Daniel Belavoine and Grégory Lemarchal) have passed away and this song was their last performances. Based on the lyric, the way Dimash performed this makes lot of sense.

They aren’t his parents. They are fellow competitors. His parents weren’t in China at the time . His father surprised him by appearing at the end of the Opera 2 performance. D was very homesick at the time. If you watch that keep watching past the end when there’s a very touching moment when D spots his dad. He asked his dad after the show if he sung well. He’s so humble! ♥️😍🇬🇧

@@k.vn.k Hi, you forgot 1 singer who sang this song too : Bruno Pelletier (he is alive), from Montreal, Canada. And the song was written by Luc Plamondon (from Montreal too). I know this 'cause I live in Montreal for 66 years. Starmania was played here too, with french canadian singers and in France with singers of France. Have a good day Kevin Kee and take care.

Nope, not his parents. That lady was a fellow competitor and that gentleman with her was her manager for this particular show. But you can see Dimash's father (but not mother) on 2nd episode of Singer 2017 singing OPERA 2 (gentleman in suit doing fist pump).

I truly enjoy your reaction responses to Dimash, please keep it going! For those who haven't yet heard, March 12, 2021 was a pivotal day in the life of Dimash as he became the most requested artist on MTV's youtube channel Friday Livestream. Enough of us took the time to spend three hours helping Dimash out by typing REQUEST DIMASH in the chat next to the show's streaming video. Our efforts succeeded in helping Dimash replace the act that had held the top spot onsistently for over six months! Our work, however, is not done; it has just begun. In order to keep Dimash in the top position that he deserves we need to tune into the MTV youtube channel Friday Livestream (5-8 pm New York time, weekly on Fridays) and type REQUEST DIMASH as many times as possible in the chat during the three hours of the program. Voting for Dimash can also be done Mondays-Fridays on Google Forms, Instagram and Twitter. Let's help Dimash keep his rightful place at the top and to realize his dream of being as successful in the western world as he is elsewhere.

This performance was the first time I ever heard Dimash nearly a year ago. I'm rarely moved to tears by music, but I cried like a baby when I heard this. It's otherworldly in the best way. This is my favorite performance of him doing this song.

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!.....The Singer show “by invitation only” competition for established professional singers in China, voted in by the audience of 500, watched by 1.3 billion people every week. In 2017 Dimash was invited by producers and an unknown wildcard. After the first episode aired (SOS) he needed bodyguard to go out in public... the performance received 600 millions views on Weibo (Chinese Instagram). With an incredible 6+ octaves range (E1-D8) and the ability to sing any style of music. He is unquestionably the Best Singer/Performer in the world.....greetings from a Mexican Dear!....👏🏻❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿

Not his parents, He was in China alone at this point, 22 years old in a country where he could not communicate without a translator...quite frightening. His father came during the filming of the 2nd of the Singer series 'Opera 2'. The two astonished contestants are from the Lion band, great singers/musicians. Thank you for your review, ever grateful for Dimash, love from the Marshall Islands.

Actually Dimash did have a translator with him, his sponsor; He is a Kazakh singer and music producer, by the name of A-Lai. And, on excursions there was Always a translator with him, as well the fact that English was used as the common language of communication with Dimash and his Team in China.

They aren’t his parents - the lady is a contestant (a great singer - in fact all the contestants on this show were fantastic) and the man is her host on the show. Each contestant had a host. Dimash had a fellow Kazakh musician who could speak Mandarin as his host. The two surprised guys are from the band Lion. FYI Dimash was the first contestant up and pretty well none of the contestants or any of the audience had ever heard him before hence their reactions. He became an overnight sensation in China after - something like 600,000 calls to the TV station after this performance. Great reaction 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Greetings to the owner and guests of this channel…! ARTIST FACTS: DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, & multi-instrumentalist. Born in Aktobe Kazakhstan, Central Asia: May 24, 1994. He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music. The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? Etc, I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and be surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”. Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death. Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives. Death creates in us a feelings of fear, separation, sadness and pain. Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless. If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times. That was his 1st song and he gained about 600 millions in just one day! Dimash is an unmatched singer!!! ❤️❤️❤️

The "SINGER-2017" competition is held in China only with professional singers who are already famous and famous. The competition consisted of 14 rounds and lasted almost 4 months. The first is the one who is the least known. Dimash was the only foreigner, and no one knew him. The Chinese called Dimash a "little import brother." He performed on January 21, 2017, the first with the song S.O.S. The famous contestants were in shock then. They then jokingly said, "OK, we went home, why did we even get called?". /// The First place was given to the famous Chinese singer Sandy. She was 51 at the time, but she looked very young. Sandy's first SD disc came out before Dimash was born. Dimash took only the Second place, however, lost only a few hundredths of a ball. When Dimash took second place, the fans quickly found this "explanation".> Dimash is called ANGEL, ALIEN and, of course, PRINCE. Although Dimash did not win the show (ranked second), but after the competition he did a very good job in China.

👉 This is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears. (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to KZbin... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears. The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).🌼🇩🇪 👉 In January 2021 Dimash was one of the few foreigners who has been asked to attend the live online show marking the inauguration of the President of U.S.A. Joe Biden. He is here as a representative of his country Kazakhstan and he is also here for his Dears from all over the world. He performed: S.O.S. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXaQapmHiausl9U and Samaltau - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX3Vd6ZmjLernbs 🌼🇩🇪 👉 SOS from an earthling in distress (SOS = Save our souls - Seafarers' emergency call) Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry? This is the SOS of an earthling in distress I was never well-grounded I would rather be a bird I feel ill with myself I would like to see the world upside down if by any chance it were nicer from above from above I always mixed up life with cartoons Sometimes, I do have like a need to metamorphose I feel something attracting me attracting me attracting me upwards at the lottery of the universe, I didn't get the right number I feel ill with myself Ohhh if by any chance it were nicer I feel ill with myself from above Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry? I think I receive waves coming from another world I was never well-grounded if by any chance it were nicer nicer from above if by any chance it were nicer sleep child, sleep lyricstranslate.com 🌼🇩🇪

Andy, it there was ever a song that required a vast amount of analysis, this is it. I'm so glad you chose the performance from The Singer in China. I think it should be noted that the production of the show is very well done and they use lighting to significantly follow the music and, speaking of music, the orchestra is excellent and it possesses some instruments that are not common in other parts of the world which add an unusual sound. Andy, I saw Dimash live at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, in December, 2019. There was hardly any promotion of the Concert and it was held on a Tuesday night. It was Sold Out and the building was full of love. He was marvelous and his energy level was off the charts. One particular moment was unforgettable. He had written a song titled Unforgettable and was introducing it by telling the audience that he knew everyone was so glad he was here and that this night would be unforgettable for them. But, he added that they must understand that this night was also unforgettable for him as well because he had always dreamed of playing in New York and, here he was. He started to tear up and, of course, the entire audience began to cry with him. Yes, I will never forget that moment and neither will anyone else who was there that night.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, against TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato,whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Yes, the last few seconds of crescendo-decrescendo, he is the master of vocal dynamic. He doesn’t do that anymore in the other version of SOS. But, I still think, overall, the performance for sister cities (President Biden inauguration day) is still better. He has more resonance in his mixed which was already perfect in 2017 (somehow he managed to get even better) and his low is also sounding richer.

Great analysis as always... Since you mention the sync between musicians and Dimash (either by click tract or body language), it is worth noting that this show is not only about singing but the contestants are judged for the arrangement of the songs. The show requires the contestants to cover songs but adding their own arrangement, therefore, Dimash as well as the other singers work on their arrangements and rehearse extensively, so the band and the singers knows exactly what the other is supposed to do. These are professional musicians and singers, so this show is just at another level in terms of performances and production. Keep the good work and stay safe....

@@rowenn1729 I think people say his French has gotten much better. I don't know French, but this is the first song I heard Dimash sing. The emotion I felt, even not knowing a word he sang, made me a fan for life. My native language is English. I'm lucky and happy that his imperfection at English doesn't bother me, but endears him to me. :) I think I'm just lucky about that. It can't be helped if it bothers people. Not a fault of theirs.

Thank you for your Reaction to Dimash, and speaking about some of his background. No, not his parents. SOS also shows his own Opera (Bel Canto) training, not only his Mother’s influence. Dimash has a (2014) University Major in Vocal Opera (Bel Canto). As well as a (2018) University Major in Vocal Pop & Jazz. Dimash has stated in interviews that he structures all of the songs in his repertoire, including the covers he performs and then works with his Music Arranger and friend Erlan Bekchurin to his desired effect. With that in mind, you will notice that Dimash always “changes-up” his song performances, that you will notice nuance differences of the same songs at different performances. Dimash always entertains, Dimash has composed 10 songs in his repertoire, and in 2020 Dimash achieved a University Major in Music Composition; and was invited to continue with his doctorate in music studies.

The folks that sit back in the green room are primarily contestants. The folks you thought are his parents are not. The lady is a terrific singer. The man with her is her support for the show. Dimash’s dad is out in the audience and gives him a big hug. But the contestants all meet in that room.. plus he was a new comber and got stuck on first place and blew everyone away, don’t believe the other acts realized how unique and talented he is.

As impressive as his big range (his lowest here is B2, highest note are F#5 chest, D6 head and E6 whistle), notice that he is also in perfect pitch hitting exactly the same note but with different quality tone. Here, check out at the parts he sang ‘qui m’attire vers le haut’: 7:02 F#5 operatic head voice, roundedj 10:52 F#5 pop rock chest voice, forward resonance 13:39 F#5 chest voice - flip to C#6 head voice - flip again to E6 whistle (did you notice he omit the bridge entirely and just hit those notes one by one like hitting a piano). Wouldn’t it be a dream come true for a song writer to write any song with a crazy composition without worrying he can’t hit them perfectly. Check out Olimpico / Ogni Pietra written by Igor Krutoy specially for Dimash.

Your expertise deconstructed all the parts so the viewer could understand the impact of the song. While Dimash is probably one of the great singers of our time, you inform us that nothing is random. It is all played out on the stage but the background seems to be the tapestry of the ensemble. You are so knowledgeable, I appreciate your input and observation. I appreciate your professional reaction to Dimash here. From the very beginning for me hearing and seeing this sos at the China show, the producers are using the audience as a another character in the show. As Dimash voice is emoting the story and rising and falling with the story so do the cameramen catch the audience members recations to the words of the song. The guy is crying when the words say why do I cry. This a very professionally done editing. Because these were all professional singers so was Dimash. He very well could have influenced not only the music but what the camara and lighting that were done. His education is masters level in 2017. After that show he was already doing solo concerts in China and elsewhere.

Andy, just some interesting information, the I am singer competition in China is for only already established singers/bands. Not a talent competition. The competitive level is thus set at a very high standard. The two guys you pointed out in the beginning section of the performance is the lead singer and electric guitarist of the "Lion Band" (Rock Band), they consist of 4 members and Lee (with the long hair) is also a multi-instrumentalist, do yourself a favour and listen to one or two of their songs....they are actually very good!

Thanks for sharing! Another thing about the in-ear: I don't have the feeling he needs to get audience reaction, (maybe) but acoustically a singer needs an open ear as their 'monitor' to note vibration, overtones - it's helps create the acoustic-sensory 'map' that lets you know if you're producing your sound the way you mean to. It is not listening to the sound itself, which is misleading re: the actual physical production of sound. 9:50 the faces - the group Lion - guitarist (L) who is "Whah?" and Jam Hsiao, the lead singer, with a different kind of internalized, bewildered respect. Throughout the series he had great reactions. I also love the final line with the little messa di voce. Don't know why he stopped doing it.
@andyjonesofficial
@andyjonesofficial 3 жыл бұрын
Some interesting insights here, thank you Dave! I'm guessing he adjusted in order to lean a little more towards a contemporary pop style and to maybe build more of a diminuendo bridge to the last line. As a user of in-ears myself, I find that whether I have one or two of them in my ears depends a lot on the venue. When I'm with my rock band I mostly need both of them to hear myself at all ;-) But when I play solo shows in more intimate venues I tend to use just one. I notice that in this show, the vocalists are quite far away from the other musicians on stage so I can imagine this plays a part, too.

Discovering the vocal miracle of Dimash is like discovering a precious treasure. So glad you discovered him. This I want to say with respect: I have watched your singing clips. I find your music very flat. No variety of vocal colours, emotion and connection of music to the lyrics. It so seems that you depend on the lyrics but neglect the meaningful connection of music to the lyrics. You sound like any hundreds and thousands of people who sing. But I am glad you discovered The exquisite vocal talent of Dimash. He (Simash) is also an exemplary role model of humility. A characteristic that transcends all other gifts. Good luck.

I've very much enjoyed listening to Dimash sing. Looking forward to more. Thank you for your respectful critique. It's a little sad and demotivating for me, especially at a time when we musicians are currently unable to take to the stage and are struggling accordingly, but of course we put our music out there and we also have to be able to take criticism. Your comment that my music contains no emotions or cohesion between music and lyrics doesn't resonate with me because the majority of the reviews of my music and concerts contradict that, and I tend to write from the heart... so I wonder which songs you've looked at so far. Of course musical taste is subjective and everyone is different, and that's a good thing. But a thread on Dimash isn't really the place to discuss it. You're welcome to send me a message on social media / email to talk more - it's a learning journey so I'm happy to be in dialogue about it!

I listen to over 10 versions of this song by Dimash and there is not a single one to repeat (he did not sing this song twice the same way !) I doubt that in a live singing contest it is possible for any contestant to have access to electronic effects that will ensure any advantage over others, especially if the contestant is the only foreigner in that country and is the first to appear in the contest. !

Hi Flavian, they are definitely electronic beats. They can be programmed easily via midi keyboard, and since other singers on the show also got access to different instruments not used by other contestants, and all contestants had arrangement partners, I'm sure this wasn't a problem. There are also electronic beat effects on Adagio. But yes, it's great that he keeps his performances fresh by varying things!
