I enjoy your channel, sir. I only just discovered Nightwish about a year ago and especially Floor. This was fun to see. Thanks

A J.....Good stuff, thank you. Don't know if I have ever seen a band having this much fun after almost two hours on stag as Wacken. I think they all realize that they nailed the concert. First big ( 82K ) venue for the fans seeing Floor and Troy with the band.

It's cool that Tony joined them in Rio, and I like the performance. But the vocals sound a bit "crowded" with three lead singers. Nothing to dislike about the Rio version, but I prefer Wacken.

It seems that Emppu is fingerpicking the guitar, because he had thrown his picks to the audience. You can see that at 15:35 where his taking a new one from the neck of his guitar. As I have noticed, he is throwing pick in every concert, his way to keep up interactive with the audience. At the end of Wacken concert I just love Floor's outlook when the last notes fade away and she standing there her hands put together, happy and enjoying that moment. Just love those seconds.

Emppu always knows when he's going to be able to throw a pick! I think the fingerpicking is on purpose because he does it in the first half of the first two choruses.
@ristohyvarinen84483 жыл бұрын
@@andyjonesofficial Yes, I agree with you, he really knows, what he is doing. That's not an accident. He just seems to have fun with the crowd. As if he threw his last pick and still manage to play. But what ever that was, his stage performance is great.

You've got to be pretty sure of yourself stepping on stage in between Marko and Floor! But Tony holds his own here.

Great Video. Missed the livestream because I watched the 250k subs party of The Charismatic Voice. Honestly, I like the Wacken version more than the Rio version (maybe because I have watched "Showtime, Storytime" a couple of times). I always smile when Floor goes to Tuomas and lays her arm around him or when she lays her head at Markos shoulder. You don't have a competition running with Chase Carneson about pauses, do you? ;-) Subbed already after the last Nightwish video. Grüße aus dem schönen Rheinhessen (Mainz).

Haha! No competition going on here! What would that be called... a pause-off? :-D Grüße nach Mainz!

One thing I love about Nightwish is the way they include everyone in the love and the credits, not just the immediate stage crew, but truck and bus drivers, riggers, every form of technician and even catering and costume and set designers. And a huge shoutout to those crew, who had just 2 hours to rig everything on that stage including the video wall and lighting truss, after the previous band cleared the stage and while Alice Cooper was playing the next stage over. It takes a lot of very well coordinated Tanks to do that! Also, as far as the emotional part goes, the fans didn't know then that Floor and Troy had been offered and accepted band membership already - the first hint of that out of the band came two shows later at the final, even more emotional show at M'era Luna, when this was introduced as "The Last Ride Of The Tour" and Floor said it was hard after 10 months of touring to have it all suddenly come to an end, and Marco replied that someone (meaningful glance) might just be hanging around for a while. Yes, I know many suspected it, but nobody knew outside the band themselves. Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, the first signs were in Buenos Aires in December 2012, when both Emppu and Thuomas displayed huge grins that wordlessly said "This one's a keeper!". In this last year, that consideration for crew has even extended to the "Crewish" releases of Nightwish material and merch reinnterpreted by the crew in other styles and with the band taking no royalties and even selling it on their own website. Just ask Tank how unheard of that is! Oh and as for the amount of pyro involved, in "Please Learn The Setlist In 48 Hours", the story of the imaginaerium tour, they mention that one of the trucks (standard Euro 38 tonners [gross weight, so around 25 tonnes payload] back then - six axle can go to 44 tonnes now) is half full of bombs. I don't even want to think about the number of licences and certifications you need to drag that all around Europe, even with its mostly open borders - that kind of freight is rightly taken very seriously! Just in general, police (at least - maybe even "higher authorities") need to be informed of the route and schedule, and can force a re-routing if they see fit. Forget just following a satnav!

Definitely - the show takes a lot of people and they all deserve credit. Thankfully Nightwish is the kind of band that really tries to look after their crew as much as possible!

Great job - you catched a lot of fine details! Your note regarding the kinda "stuck" position of a singing keyboard player reminded me of the keyboards on rails(!) Epica showed (at least - i.d.k. if it's a regular feature in their live shows) in the 10th anniversary "Retrospect" concert from 2013. Besides that it is a alway nice way to sneak in more epic appearances of Floor ;) [of course I've subbed your channel including the bell] Best wishes from Thuringia.

Definitely to touch a different type of music, try reacting to some of the best acapella groups, namely Pentatonix, Home Free and last but not least, Voice Play. Also check out Jeff Castelluci. I am a relatively new Nightwish fan and I must say that Floor re-ignited my love of music. Lovely watching you this evening. Cheers from South Africa.

Have to admit, I've been resisting deep diving into these professional cover bands because I can only listen to e.g. Hallelujah so many times (and I say that as someone who's frequently been occasioned to perform it) before I just can't any more haha... but if you have some good recommendation, they could go on the reaction list!

Sorry prefer Wacken, Floor was holding back in the Rio version to let him sing and not overwhelm him. And I think Wacken is so special because the whole band were happy to be together.
@andyjonesofficial3 жыл бұрын
Nothing to apologise for - it's all taste! I feel Floor and Marko were holding back a little in order to allow the harmonies to blend together - which they accomplished well in my view - rather than it being about not overwhelming Tony, who can more than hold his own :-) The Wacken show certainly is special! There are quite a few songs from that set that I prefer from Wacken rather than other shows. I just feel Tony adds something worth having to the mix in this song at RiR :-)

Thanks a lot! Although I liked this song for its energy, it was more of a filler for me. You have made it more. I always suspect a bit the "great mood of a band" during taped concerts. Look at the "End of an era" DVD. They appear to be perfectly at ease, happy, together. But we know what happened right after the gig (and some of them were sick, making it on medication). And it is not even the DVD. They looked the same in real life. But then, I also saw concerts during which they looked more like "I just work here". I'm sure that good live bands can do some acting. So, I would not read too much into the apparent mood on stage. Still no Anette. A hole in Nightwish history. Something better forgotten. Is it really?
@andyjonesofficial3 жыл бұрын
Slow, dear István, slow... I will gette to Anette 😉 between day job, kids and my own music, I can only manage a couple of reviews per week. I've only even involved Tarja twice! The struggle with Anette is finding good live footage in the absence of an official DVD. But I have ideas, just need the time to put them into practice! My guess is that the relief of being at the end of that long and at times difficult tour + adrenaline + DVD filming + large crowd made a difference. But they've always had their hearts in it when I've seen them play live! In any case I'm glad I could offer a new perspective on Last Ride for you! ✌🏻
@istvanwinkler21283 жыл бұрын
@@andyjonesofficial Sorry for the impatience. Only, while there are hundreds of reactions/analyses of Nightwish songs, there is just a handful of songs with Anette as the singer and none from any of the serious reactors. So, it would be a novelty if someone of your knowledge and dedication would tackle one. (Please, not a comparison with either Tarja or Floor.) Perhaps you could use Nighwish' performance at Montreaux (kzbin.info/www/bejne/laXSqY2nl7CSgc0), although it does not have my favorite Anette song. With so many concerts within a short time on a tour, it would be a miracle if they (or any band) could make each one of them special. Of course, they are special to fans, who typically can listen to only one. But let's not deny that for the band, it is also heavy repetitive work. Psychologists know very well that one's performance improves with the end in sight - the performance curve for long repetitive tasks is "U" shaped with a potential ramp up at the beginning, if something new has to be learned. So, it is best to see a concert soon after the beginning of a tour or close to the end of it. Thanks again!
