Just wait til you see her on stage. :) Perennial at Wacken and Judgement & Punishment one-take are the perfect next steps. Since you seem inclined to deep dive, I'd suggest something a bit off the beaten path after that - the "Crowd Factory DVD Trailer" which is a concert performance of one of Tatiana's early songs with Jinjer, back when she was a tomboy with dreds. And there are a few short interview clips with each member of the band at that time and Tati's is great. ;) The best starting point to learn about her is an interview called "Crushing Concrete with Jinjer's Tatiana Shmaylyuk" in Psychology Today. When you eventually do Pit Of Consciousness it will really pay off to have read that. There are some great vlog videos on YT before they started making it professionally and were touring with all their stuff crammed in a midsize sedan, sleeping wherever they could on the road, and quite literally singing for their supper. It makes the later Bus Invaders videos much more poignant. There is a video with Tattoo.com on YT which as a lot of personal stuff in it too. Cheers!

Hi Sabina. Next reaction should be either Perennial live from Wacken 2019. Or Judgement & Punishment "One take vocal" by Tatiana. These 2 songs really show off how talented she is and how much of a vocal beast she is. Awesome singer, awesome band as a whole. I believe that if one member were to quit, Jinjer would not sound the same. They are all so in sync with each other and each member is a magician at what they do. So if you keep going down this Jinjer rabbithole you are in for the ride of a lifetime. They just dont have any bad songs to my knowledge. I'm very glad you've been introduced to Jinjer and that you liked them. They're on my daily (or at least several times weekly) playlist and Tatiana changed my perspective on metal growling. I think you will enjoy reacting to the music video version of I Speak Astronomy. The band's songwriting is very creative and their performances are consistently top notch. I like the way you express your connection to what the vocalist is projecting. Regarding Jinjer, if you are interested in Tatiana's vocals more than the whole band then I would recommend "Judgement (& Punishment) one take vocal performance". Also, Jinjer has a couple of tracks with no guttural vocals - "Bad Water" is one with a video - but most feature varying balances of clean and guttural singing (and screaming, too). For a very engaging live performance, try "Who is gonna be the one (live official video" or "Perennial (live at Wacken)". Subscribed. PS you're not alone - Tatiana's vocals are well-regarded. I think they are astonishing. Something she has in common with Diana Ankudinova!

Okay, if you insist. Try Perennial Live at Waken. They are from Ukraine, speak Russian, been around since 2009 but Tatiana came on board in 2010, and Tatiana is 33 years old. Eugene is the bassist, Vlad the drummer, and Roman is the guitarist. There were previous members but this is the current band members (Eugene and Roman are original members).

The technical skills of Tatiana as a singer is the switching from clean beautiful voice to vocal fry growling with easiness and perfection that won't "blow away" her vocal chords. And put EMOTION in all. How does Tatiana create that croaky, vocal fry register? In vocal fry, the vocal cords are short and thick creating a very slow vibration. Think of a thick guitar string. If the string is thick, it vibrates slower and you hear a low note. Getting your vocal cords to the right thickness or thinness is how you sing on pitch. In vocal fry, the vocal cords are short, thick and very loose. So the cords vibrate much slower and don’t close nearly as tightly as they do in the other registers. These vibrations are so slow that you can literally hear the air bubbling through your vocal cords. And that’s what creates that deep, creaky sound! Ain't she badass?

The whole band is incredibly talented! This video was made by the band because they had just gotten a new drummer, so they wanted to showcase his chops. Her name is Tatiana, on the guitar is Roman, Eugene on the bass and Vlad on the drums (since 2016). She uses her vestibular folds / false cords for those growls, so not really vocal fry or usage / strain of the vocal cords. This song is one of their softer ones, the majority of them have both harsh vocals mixed with clean vocals and generally a great variety within the songs as well as between the songs. They're basically war refugees, coming from the now occupied parts of eastern Ukriane. They fled their home town when separatist / Russian forces came closer, so that they still could make music, and have been on tour ever since - until covid came along. I'll drop my usual recommendations, but I would suggest going with Perennial live at Wacken next. I haven't found a song of theirs that I don't like. Interesting fact: None of the current members of the band are original. They can't even tell you why the band is called Jinjer. I believe they will be as big as Metallica soon. I think they would be already if not for the pandemic.

Growling can be very difficult- everyone who wants to do that must first find the method to do it. Otherwise that someone might more or less hurt his/her throat. Tatiana Shmayluk is probably the best growling singer in the world! If you want to see something more from them, then "Teacher, Teacher" by Jinjer is a must! :)

Another one to show Henri. This is one that is always fun to watch because of the surprise factor - like "S.O.S.", Marcelito's "The Prayer", and Morissette's "Akin Ka Na Lang". This is the perfect use of the dual voices because of the theme. The sign Pisces is represented by 2 fish swimming in opposite directions, so she has 2 parts of her personality in conflict with each other. Part of her, using the fishing metaphor, wants to get caught, (an intimate relationship), and the other part is "skittish", due to painful past experiences at the hands of "callous men" and "handsome butchers". The price of intimacy is that her armour of fish scales has to be removed, but as the expression goes, she's "once bitten, twice shy". That's my theory anyway. One reactor said the voice change reminded him of his ex-wife - before and after marriage.

Nice review. You might want to watch the single take "Judgement and Punishment". Then you might want to see "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev. The band is technically amazing. Tatyana is the singer, Vlad on drums, Eugene on bass, and Roman on guitar. They are from the Ukraine.
