Thanks for another exciting tail on the western frontier. I like that you tell stories not only about conflict between Indians and Europeans/Americans, but also discuss the conflict between the various Indian tribes.

Great story of two great factions at war. The Cheyenne were the fewest in number and had quite a complex culture of different societies. I believe they had fought the Sioux before but needed an alliance against the Crow.

It took Europeans and decedents in N America 400 years to finally defeat the Native population. If the Native population had been united, that many never have happened.
@HarupertBeagleton-dz5gw4 ай бұрын
That's because only the Spanish fought a war of conquest. The Europeans from the 13 colonies and Canada attempted to coexist with natives. If the US wanted they could have exterminated the natives. The natives only faced a fraction of the power that was displayed in the Civil War.
@rnedlo99094 ай бұрын
@@HarupertBeagleton-dz5gw You are talking about the end of the conquest. In the beginning, the Native population outnumbered and was far, far more established. The #1 factor was disease, 7 out of 8 Natives died before ever seeing a European, but then the next biggest factor was the lack of unity among the competing tribes. Most fought a two front war between European expansion and Native enemies.
@ianmacdiarmid12494 ай бұрын
Nope. Even if they had, their numbers had been wiped out long before most had even met Europeans due to their diseases spreading before them. Add to that the technological advantage, and they never stood a chance.
