Steve must've been sitting there in complete awe of the way his little boy commanded his craft. Talk about the proudest father. It's heartbreaking to think about the pain he must feel now. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

@@sinsinnomore5555 are you referring to the time he made John Henry Was A Steel Drivin' Man inspired by Justin's They Killed John Henry? which Steve never hid was the case, and which Justin liked and approved of? or the time he made a tribute album to him to honor his son's memory? because all i see in either of those instances is a father who was proud of his son

SE's best selling album was covers of TVZ...then 8weeks after his eldest, most talented son had his "dad" do the worse covers of his work rather than being an actual talented folk artist and wrote about his sons death...or his sons namesake friends death. Besides, wtf do you think you can tell me to not comment? Stfu
@k.g.alatore3553 жыл бұрын
@@sinsinnomore5555 who cares what his best selling album is? and he did write about his son's death, in the song Last Words, which...i mean, given the circumstances, what else was there to say other than "i wish i could have been with you during your last moments, and i'm grateful i got to tell you that i love you one last time and hear it from you" Steve makes his records for him and him alone, and if any of us like em, then great.

I remember every show I was lucky enough to see of his. Sat up front for every one of them. If he was playing within an hour of me I was there. He was even better live. No studio trickery to his sound. Just pure raw talent. What you heard on the album you heard live. And his personality came out between songs. Talking with the crowd and heckling the hecklers. He always seemed so genuine. That is until that last show I seen. It was in Asheville nc shortly before he passed. He seemed different. Angry. Wasn’t the same person from the other shows. He made comments about how expensive his clothes were and talked with venom about the mainstream country audience. I remember leaving that show saddened thinking he’s back on the shit and hoping he had some family or someone close that would be there for him. A year before that in the same town I got a picture with him. He was hanging out front of the venue spending time with the fans before the show. He seemed genuinely happy to stand for a picture and I’m gutted every time I see that come up in my memories. He was one of the greats and it’s a shame more people don’t know what was lost the day he passed.

A true talent. Born to it. Damn shame we lost him so soon. You could see in this video he was unhappy. Makes me sad to hear his songs knowing he was almost always struggling with his demons. I have three sons. One did 5 years in the US Army as an MP. Came out and got his degree using the GI Bill. Working for the city in IT now. One got an Engineering Degree from Purdue University. Making more than me or his mother ever did, or ever will. And the middle one can't stay off the streets, unless he's in jail, and can't kick the needle. Breaks my fucking heart.

I had a beater acoustic once that drove me up the wall and I just couldn’t get it to sound anywhere near decent. I met a guy once at a party we had and he said “Hey, mind if I pick that”? I said “yea go ahead and good luck”. He flipped it left hand so it was strung upside down to him and played the living shit out of it. People immediately started dancing and cheering him on for another one, he was a natural. Songs flowed out like river water and he had a great voice. I asked what he was playing and he said “I don’t know, just some trash talkin’ surfabilly crap I make up. They aren’t really songs. Might be a little Dick Dale or Davey Allen in there I borrowed too.” You’re 100% correct. If you got it, you got it.
