Miller isn't my favourite, but I've always been a fan. There are two things you can say for certain about him and his career: he never sold out commercially (putting out junk in search of a hit), and he never sold out his principles (flower child to the end).

"Give me $50,000", and he gets it. 😄 There's a similar story of Carly Simon in the early 70s. She was too shy to tour, so she put up ridiculous requests for doing it (e.g IIRC demanding Jim Keltner on drums, who was already busy), expecting to be rejected. Instead everyone bent over backwards to do it, then she had to tour.
