When I listen to this selection -- the haunting, ethereal quality of her voice and singing, and the almost other-worldly beauty and expression of her face -- something rises up within my heart and spirit. It is a combination of joy-longing-aching --- that brings both a joyfulness to my heart and tears to my eyes at the same time. SURELY the Spirit of God moves through this beautiful vessel of His Beauty, Joy and Love !! This was not JUST a "performance". It was a ministration by God - with His Spirit working through a yielded vessel who was pleased to allow Him to use the tremendous, other-worldly gift and talent that she was given so that God might express His Love and Peace to a hurting, broken world !! Listen to her voice - perfect in tone, pitch and cadence - drawing you into that STILL, quite place. Look at her face - the embodiment of peace, calm, love and joy. See how she uses her body-language and the gestures of her hands to calm, soothe and direct. Throughout the song, but especially at the end with her hands folded over her heart in prayer - she is transcended into the song and into the presence of God, beckoning all who are there to come join her. God is beckoning to ALL who will hear, "Come, be still before me, find the peace that you yearn for, and KNOW that I am God!!" This "Spiritual Journey" was NOT lost on the orchestra, choir or the audience in attendance. They may not have known EXACTLY what it was that they had just experienced, but they DEFINITELY knew that it was something that transcended everyday experience. They reacted by the standing ovation that they honored Sissel (and God Himself) with !!

Sometimes walking along feeling tired or frustrated I force myself to sit down, observe & absorb what's around me. It never fails to get me back on track.

A beautiful song as performed by Ms Sissel. It is important to us adherents to the Christian faith as it reminds us of that timeless scripture from Psalm 46:10, Be still and know that I am God!

Dear, dear Sissel. It is a lullaby sung by your father in heaven, by your creator. There is too much evidence by all sorts of belief systems of persons including atheists who died, encountered God, then revived, who witness the reality of God and his love. It is not belief but fact of which the song also testifies. No apologies necessary. You sang like an angel. If I had the gift of voice I would sing as you. Have been humming this song all morning while I ‘bless’ aka clean my home. Hope it will be an mp3 version so I can listen to your sublime performance on auto repeat. Blessings to you. Thank you for sharing this with the world and with your creator.

My dear Sissel, I have no words to express the joy I felt when I spotted the notice on Viking that you were going to release your version of Chuck Girard’s Slow Down! It has been one of my favorite songs ever since Chuck came to our Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, CA for a concert in around 1976. I chose the song to be a part of my repertoire, especially during the next 10 years or so with our participation in the Cursillo movement. I was a soloist in our choir for over 30 years. I am now 86 and no longer sing but live vicariously through lovely ladies like you! You are indeed blessed and I am truly inspired by your gift. Anne Pruett

Yay Netherlands! 🇳🇱 This half-Dutch American very recently discovered & am now in love with Sissel’s version of this song + just posted it to share with all of my Facebook connections. Who knows if Sissel ever sees our comments here, but i was getting ready to go somewhere when i first heard this performance and literally had tears streaming down my face as i listened. That’s a powerful gift you have, Sissel. ((Thank you)) for healing the world -and me- with it. ❤️ from 🇺🇸

Given the chaos that I am in the middle of, it is really hard to listen to Sissel the Nice talk about slowing down. I'm trying. But it ain't working. Nice try. And to think about the 1870s, Brigham Young and that Indian looking down on Deseret (as the Indian didn't call it), makes the chaos even.... I thought that concert was, um, entertaining.... Thanks.
