They usually were born into abusive households. Realising what abuse is would be hard when its normalised
@wheninrome1989 ай бұрын
The weird thing about abuse is that while the victim is suffering, if the abuse is all they know they're sometimes more likely to stay as it's all the really know. And even when they start experiencing healthy relationships in others, the abuser has this hold on them as they know how to make the victim vulnerable. I think that's why OP let her sister walk all over her for so long even after constant realizations, despite how infuriating it is.

@mnomadvfx8 ай бұрын
That only works if they are perpetually cut off from alternatives. Except she has a job, she has a boyfriend. I don't buy that either or both of these places would not have offered her advice, if not outright demands that she cut herself off from these abusive people. I can't imagine any sane boyfriend wanting to stay attached to a woman who is willingly remaining a doormat to them and getting in the way of their lives together - he'd either just leave, or demand that she grow a spine and cut them off Also, it's not like there are not paid alternatives to foisting children on your relatives. The OP's sister and her sisters husband work - so they have money to afford childcare. If not there is also the mother - who apparently will bend over backwards to support her first daughter.... except for childcare, while most grandparents fall over themselves to spent time with them.

The first story is about why a toxic female never should be indulged. "Miranda" talking over her mother and her bridezilla behavior was beyond over the top and I totally agree with how she let others see her as the toxic witch she is. The parents playing a part was/is just pathetic. Also, the fact is that there are far too many "Miranda" 's out there. Far too many single moms act just that way. OPs vile sister was cleary addicted to controlling her and using her as a servant. Any action OP thought was her reaching out to be close was actually a way to make her subservient to her again in the excuse of helping family. I understand that you were afraid you won't get the opportunity to have that second child but that's no excuse to ignore the other child you have.
