You are correct I work in HR for the military and there is a regulation that talks about the bulk of hair which we as black women are known for dense hair. However they have recently made changes but freeform or traditional locs arent authorized. I have seen a few soliders with sister/microlocks rocking the hell out of them.

Enjoyed the Pros & Cons list. I have been natural since 2003, my sisterlocs journey began Feb. 2019 -I'm 62 and loving my locs. You definitely inspires me. So keep doing what you are doing, b/c I'm watching!

Enjoyed the video! If I'm ever going to get locs, it will either be micro or sister locs because from as you said, no matter your hair type the smaller locs are more versatile in terms of styling options and are definitely more readily accepted in the workplace. BTW your locs are gorgeous as usual!

It's sad that you have to say that...but it's the unfortunate truth. I've been out of the workforce for 2.5 years to finish my Bachelors degree. Finally finished in May. Yay me! Lol! Anyways I am afraid of being discriminated against because of my locs. And I have Sisterlocks. I have a few interviews coming up and have been anxious about what to do with my hair. I can't believe I'm openly admitting this. 😣

I think the main thing during an interview is having confidence so do whatever style gives you confidence. I did a big chop right before my interview for a management position in corporate & got it. I received comments a yr later that showed that the VP who interviewed me wasn't big on my hair but that didn't stop him from hiring me l. He's no longer with the company so I'm glad I stuck to what I was confident in.

But definitely I get how you feel. Maybe wear them in an updo to help with some of the anxiety.

I’m glad you understood what I was trying to convey! I’m trying to convince my 18 year old cousin to get microlocs that she can maintain. I love them too.
@fatimamanneh94324 жыл бұрын
Just Audria yes microlocs can take 4 to 5 hours to retie every 8 weeks depends on how many locs but anything beats washing & detangling loose natural hair I enjoy maintaining my own locs
@Jamila911004 жыл бұрын
Hey did you do your microlocs yourself ? Do you prefer microlocs to sisteelocks? I can't find a consultation in my area that will answer the phone but I can't no do hair if my life depended on it

AUDRIA!!! You are tooo funny. I needed a good laugh this morning and you brought it. Thanks Fam! I also wanted to say, I know what you mean about locs in the work place, Sisterlocs may be less threatening...hate to even have to say that, but here we are. Lastly 12:16 took me out!!

I hated to say it too! But I’m glad you understand what I’m saying. It’s sad that we have to feel this way about our hair. Change is coming slowly!

I understand the initial cost but what is the price range of maintenance every 4-6 weeks? I am considering sisterlocs and braidlocs.

100-130 depending on the consultant.

I wore a wig for the first two weeks. And scarves. I was so sad conscious about my hair in the beginning. Something happened the first time I washed them. And it’s been on and poppin since then 😂. Thank you for tuning in.

Just Audria Thank you for your response! I’m going to eventually jump in lol, I just got to get over this fear of looking some kind of way in the beginning! Maybe I can get a beanie cap or something. Keep the videos coming girl!
