There will be no civilians when you play as operators/marines. The "civilian update" you speak of, is a mission planned for the campaign where you play as an unarmed Iraqi father trying to get out of the city. Again, there will be no civilians in the portions where you play as the Coalition forces

I remember when Insurgency sandstorm came out and how much of an upgrade the audio was in that, I heard someone scream in the game in another room and got out of my chair to go check my house mate was alright because I thought it was him that screamed. Yup I solo'd the apartment mission. It took me about 2 hours to get the the building BEING EXTREMELY CAREFUL.... just to have some Haji take half a clip to the head ( and yes i used editing software and watched in slow-mo the 3,000,000 rounds hitting their skull ) and still run off then turn around shoot me once and i was dead.... played it with a reshade tool too....looked stunning...role on campaign missions.

I recall an article about this game from back when it was first conceived and then shelved, close to the actual events. They said as a milsim the idea was that they would realistically simulate urban warfare, including the general concept that you should assault a position by going through the front door. The idea was that every building would be completely destructible so you could make holes in walls, floors and ceilings and attack that way. Apparently audiences hated it because it's not what they "expected from a first person shooter". They wanted a twitch reflex based game where they shot at targets.

If this was real life Fallujah, those houses Habie breached and threw grenades into would have innocent children in them... that's not even getting into how the Americans bombed the hospital in Fallujah that was already full of critically injured people. The city was full of innocent people just trying to live their lives, and they were all uprooted because the Americans wanted a revenge mission, or in other words, all uprooted for a pointless mission. Maybe that helps explain why this game is a little tasteless; it completely downplays how tragic Fallujah really was.

What you need to realize is this was in 2004 you don’t get to pick your load out and at the time the marines were very limited on what they had! A lot of guys didn’t even have night vision! This game is still in early access and the devs are working really hard to make sure it’s right! Even with just 4 missions right now there is still so much playability
