You deserve all those views. I’ve had this plastic and steel contraption taking up space on my counter since last Christmas, with its accessories, and silicone thingamajigs, and recipe books, and I was always thinking I really should take a day off to study how it works, and how to prevent explosions, when all I really needed was a bag of frozen veggies. I’m going to try it now, wish me luck. 😅

This video was so helpful. I was using my Instant Pot cooking a pot roast for the first time and I wish I had watched your video first. I am TERRIFIED of Pressure Cooker. My friend had a Instant Pot and raved about it so I figure I would try it. I did not realize the knob was supposed to be on “sealing” when using. I started to hear this hissing sound so I RAN out of my kitchen because I thought it would explode (instead of pulling the plug or cancel button) I ran...fast...lol I actually search for a video and this one popped up. I noticed you said to put the knob on sealing and NOT VENTING, therefore the hissing sound as the steam was escaping! lol, so if scary old me can used the Instant Pot successfully, ANYONE can l. I’m very happy with my Instant Pot and my pot roast was absolutely delicious! Thanks for this video and calming my nerves!

I was scared using mine the first time. I made a family favorite that usually takes an hour in just under 25 minutes. I was unsure if it was doing everything right, then it seemed b like the timer than counts down waz going in slow motion, then it started counting up after beeping. I figured it was done and saw that the instructions say to vent the steam before opening. I barely touched the valve and it hissed at me. I called my boyfriend to come to the kitchen and vent it for me. He thought I was being a big baby, but he also freaked out when it hissed. It was so loud. But it is definitely a time saver. Your story mDe me laugh and reminded me of mine. Lol.

This video provides very useful info. When my wife bought the Instant Pot, I thought that SHE was going to learn how use it and then teach me, but somehow sorting out the maintenance and learning how to deploy the unit became my task. I had not even heard of Instant Pots or ever used a pressure cooker. I know how to make peanut butter sandwiches, spaghetti, salad and roast chicken breasts and that's pretty much it. (Looking at many of the comments here, I laughed to see that so many other folks had the same trepidations that I had.) You made my job very easy and made me look smarter than I am. Thank you! I have already checked out some of your other content and see some other things to add yo my repertoire.

1:56 -- THANK YOU to our narrator for taking a moment to show us up close the flexible silicon sealer ring and how it needs to be nested inside the lid so that it envelops the circular metal element held in place by four little support arms. That element is called the "ring rack." By design it "floats" in space, able in some way I do not understand to self-adjust in microscopic increments that make possible the increase in pressure that is the magic of this appliance. Before fitting the flexible silicon sealer, visually inspect the ring rack. If any part of it is bent or out of alignment it will not be able to create the seal that builds pressure, and the unit needs to be returned under warranty. This is rare but it happens. And you'll be aware this part of the cooker is vulnerable to rough handling, After you have ascertained the ring rack is okay, follow our narrator's instructions to put into place the flexible silicon seal so that it encloses the ring rack and acts as a gasket that enables the ring rack to to somehow accommodate the microscopic forces that are part of the magic of the pressure cooker. What works for me is that once the sealer is in place as the narrator demonstrates, I then "walk" my fingertips around the sealer's circumference, pressing inward toward the ring rack. If a portion of the sealer no longer envelops the ring rack, my fingers will detect that and at the same time the gentle pressure I am exerting pushes that portion of the sealer exactly where it needs to go -- fully enclosing the enough of the ring rack has been exposed to just sit there without generating pressure spoiling my dinner plans. AND IT HAPPENS ONLY WHEN YOU ARE HAVING COMPANY! If you want to be sure beforehand your Instant Pot is able to generate steam, go to the "water test" section of your Getting Started guide and follow the easy process of generating steam without having to cook anything. Be ready to wait 15-20 minutes for the unit to come up to steam. You'll be glad went through this exercise because it will acquaint you with the basic workings of the cooker, and your will KNOW this puppy is operational and ready to overachieve for you.

Gurllllllll! Praise God for you!🙌🏾🙌🏾 My Mom gave me her instant pot with no directions or anything & I've had it for several, did I say several months without using it b/c I didn't know how to! Ok wait I confuse I thought it was only for cooking steamed rice which I don't eat so I was just like thanks Mom when she gave me hers with no questions asked b/c you may not know this about me but I know it all & didn't need any directions for a rice cooker I would never use!!🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️😂🤣😆 Anyway, fast forward I was listening to some coworkers talking about what all they cook in their instant pots the other day & how easy it was that it triggered my memory about that thing my mom gave me months ago & maybe it wasn't a rice cooker!🤔 So when I got home I pulled it off my shelf in the basement to reexamine it & sure enough it is an instant pot dual newest edition you were talking about! Yay! Ok so now new dilemma, I've always heard bad things about pressure cookers & how dangerous they were plus my Grandpa got burned terrible bad using one. Therefore I was scared to death to actually plug this one in b/c I was thinking it was going to explode & I would need to run for my life!🏃🏾♀️💨🏃🏾♀️💨 However after turning to KZbin & having your vid pop up, this is a #GAMECHANGER! And there's more...,with the saute and yoghurt buttons, just to name a few....,I think one thing that makes sense is that when starting out just using the "pressure cook" button and then selecting a "Hi/Lo" pressure and a time (as you suggest here)...,that you take notes on what settings you choose for each item cooked - experiment and keep notes. It's food science 101...,Alton Brown is my brother, so that's my excuse.....,

My sis gifted me one and I was so happy. I’ve been learning some things. Lol. Thanks for this video. The only other thing to learn is the settings lol

Many thanks for the time taken to make these vid's i have downloaded loads of them for future reference having just started using a instant pot. Anybody scared of the pots should be aware i'm a 60 Y/O guy, so if i can manage a instant pot anybody will deal with one easily Great item in these days of expensive food bills have just cooked some long grain rice, the pack cost 69p and still have about 50 % of the bag left ❤👍✨

I bought a duo nova recently. I am confused about the pressure level. Can you only change it from lo to high? Also I’m not sure what the burn warning is. Does it display an icon or something to show the food is burning. Does the duo nova have that feature? I didn’t realize there are so many models of instant pots! Geez I am sure glad to have your videos because there seems to be a lot that is not in the manuel that comes with it! Thanks. I have your new book on preorder...excited to get it! 😀

although I could have cooked the vegetables in a pan stovetop in 5 minutes and they would be much crunchier and have more coldor, thank you for taking the time to make this. It did move me to try mine.

Thank you for this video. My instant pot has been on counter since mother's day, when my daughter gave to me. I read instructions, but was sooo confused. I actually cooked my veggies for lunch today and am ready to try mac n cheese tonight.

I requested one for Christmas....we will see if Santa delivers. LOL! Watching this video..now really makes me want one! Thank you.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! First time pressure cooker user and this was so helpful. I’ve always been , for a lack of better words, scared to use the pressure cooker function and after your very concise video I’m waiting for my food to finish as we I type this. I’ll update in a bit by replying to my comment.

It came out great! Nice and tender, could of used a bit more seasoning but I’d rather it be tender and underseasoned than seasoned and tough. I did a natural release and it was great. This is a game changer to my meal prep life

my favorite thing about the instant pot is cooking straight from the freezer. Frozen chicken, pork, beef, etc. to fall off the bone in like 20 minutes. Can't beat it.
@homesteadgamer12573 жыл бұрын
This, I think, has saved my sanity. I just got an Instant Pot today and for some reason. After the trial run went well, it never pressurized when I put a whole chicken in. 4.5 hours in, and still and half-frozen chicken 😭 . I kept trying to use the Poultry button, but I think now that button is mainly for thawed cut chicken, not whole frozen ones. I will be using the Pressure Cook button from now on. Also heading off to watch your Yogurt video because that's the second readon I even wanted an Instant Pot! Bless you for putting this tutorial out!!!

I just found this great video and have already recommended it twice tonight to newbies who have a Lux like I do! I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and it's been my work horse but as you know it is a little different than the Duos and later models. Still works very well, though! Thanks for this great video showing the differences between the Lux and others!!!!
