I have been binge watching Instant Pot Pot Roasts, because this will be my 1st time alone using the pot. 🤗 I want to thank you for mentioning something (no-one!) else has: to "let the pot sit covered without releasing the steam for 15 mins when done!" I made this recipe and my family absolutely loved it. I used a rump steak roast and couldn't believe how juicy and tender it really was and so easy to slice up. Graded horseradish does this meal justice. I never liked cooking rump steak, it was always tough and difficult to cook but thought I'd give it a go in my pressure cooker and I'm so glad I did. Simple ingredients, easy to put together, one of the perfect ways of cooking a tough steak and definitely less time ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ thank you for sharing your amazing recipe 😀👍

Hi Gordon! It sounds like you have a top round roast. They can be quite a bit tougher than a chuck roast--but let me help you get it right :) I would suggest cutting into large 2-inch chunks. Skip searing the meat and add to inner pot with beef stock and seasonings. Pressure cook for 60 minutes with a full natural pressure release. Then add in potatoes and carrots and pressure cooker for 2-5 minutes on high pressure. Enjoy!

I usually make my roast in the oven. I Sautee it with salt and paper and coat it in garlic paste. Then I roast it in red wine. A light red lambrusco or malbec topped with thyme turns out really nice. You can yhin the wine with broth if you like. We don't. My immune system won't handle eating out with all those people carrying germs. I make my own malbec but, I used to buy reunite' lambrusco. I'll try this. Someone gave me an instapot and, I think I'm in love and may buy one with an air fryer attachment. It's really hard learning to cook for three kids when you're used to cooking for ten since the other three that moved out are all huge boys. I'm going to make Chinese pork ribs tonight. It'll take less than a quarter of the time I usually spend.

Only have one question: After the pot roast is done (60), do I need to turn off the IP and wait 10-15 minutes before opening, getting the meat out to then do the veggies? Thank you so much. I didn't have horseradish, but I'll try it next time. Love your videos explained carefully & short 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘👏👏👏

You can leave your Instant Pot on "warm" it won't make a difference. Enjoy!

First time user? What does naturally release pressure mean after time is up? Do I turn it off? Do I leave it on low? Do I vent?
@AMindFullMom2 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica! You may find it helpful to watch my video on quick release and natural pressure release (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6jRmaGoj5mlbNE) But basically, it means to leave alone (it is okay on the keep warm). When the float valve floats down or the lid unlocks (depending on your model), you can then open it up. I hope that helps.

I had a 2lb roast(thawed, cooked 42 min, released for 20 min and it didn't seem done! Certainly wasn't falling apart. Couldn't hardly cut into it. What did I do wrong?
@AMindFullMomАй бұрын
Hey there! It may have been the cut of beef. Chuck roasts will become super tender and other cuts won't. Also, did you use the full 4 cups of broth?

Hi Kristen! Can't wait to try this! We have a couple of folks, though, who have an aversion to horseradish. How will it turn out without it? Would I need to cook the meat a little longer? Thanks!
@AMindFullMom2 жыл бұрын
Hi There! I would suggest adding in additional ingredients for flavor, but keeping the cooking time the same. I personally would add in dried onion soup mix (here is my homemade recipe: amindfullmom.com/diy-dry-onion-soup-mix/) and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and omit the added salt. I hope you enjoy!

Nice making this today. Horseradish makes so much sense but I've never used it. ~ Thanks

Can be replaced by beef brisket? Will the meat shredded and fall apart for brisket?
@AMindFullMom2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rita! Beef brisket typically is just tender and sliceable after pressure cooking, not really shreddable. It also needs to be cooked for longer--more like 28 minutes per pound.

Love the horseradish idea! My grandma used a bit of worsheshire.. I can just see her dashing it in her slow cooker and then dashing some in her Bloody mary or bloody beer (a true iron range woman). For me, I’ve never had to brown the meat while making pot roast in the instant pot. I can just literally throw in the meat and the veggies all at once with 2 cups of water and put it on manual mode for about 60 minutes (using 2 pounds of chuck roast shoulder.. not rump). Perhaps if you are using 3 pounds of meat browning is necessary but when using 2 pounds I can just shove it all in at once and not even worry.

You never HAVE to brown the meat. But in this case, it adds incredible flavor with the added caramelization it brings to the pot roast.

Can you add flour instead of cornstarch?
@AMindFullMomАй бұрын
Yes! In a medium bowl, whisk a tablespoon of flour into a quarter-cup of cold water or broth until smooth. Ladle in a 1/4 a scoop of cooking liquid into the mixture, whisking well, then whisk in to thicken the gravy :)
