"No more yankie my wankie. The Donger need food!" Fun Fact: John Hughes cast Molly Ringwald after seeing her headshot. Inspired by Ringwald's appearance, he put it up over his desk and wrote the film just over a weekend, with her specifically in mind for the lead role. Trend Sitter Fact: The movie's costume designer begged Molly Ringwald not to wear the hat she wore in the beginning of the movie. Ringwald insisted. After the movie was released, teenage girls started wearing their hats tilted back like that. Slight Oversight Fact: Carlin Glynn (Brenda) confronted John Hughes about the fact that the script didn't call for her to apologize for forgetting her daughter's birthday, despite the fact that her character was described as a good and attentive mother. Hughes agreed, and added the scene where Brenda tearfully apologizes to Samantha (Molly Ringwald).

there is a difference between a nerd, geek and dork 1. Nerd: if you have trouble in school and you want some tutoring then you need to go to a nerd. A. nerd can help you with ANY subject . If you can find one that is willing to give you the help you may need to also pay a small price for the service. 2. Geek: A geek is also knowledgeable of particular subject but their area of expertise might be limited to one or two subjects. The subjects might also be non academic. You might have a history geek or a math geek. You might also have one who is a Star Trek geek or a dungeons and dragons geek. 3. Dork: These guys are the type to throw erasers or come up to you and say “hey, pull my finger”

Yes John Cusack and his sister Joan is the one with the neck brace. No they didnt mute Jake's "SOB" he is mouthing it to himself. Jake just told Ted to take her home, nothing else. Since Ted asked her if they did it, I always assumed he got drunk too.
@JayBondReacts
@JayBondReacts 2 жыл бұрын
Gotta disagree about Jake. Jake was talking about how she was so drunk anyone could violate her and she wouldn't know. Then they jump to them putting her in the car and he tells him to drop her off when they're done (or finished?). Done what exactly? Just driving her home? He also apologized after. If it was meant to just drop her off, why apologize? Whether they actually did it or not, is up in the air but the intent and validation of supposed actions is there.
@zedwpd
@zedwpd 2 жыл бұрын
@@JayBondReacts Jake said that he could violate Caroline to show he wasn't about just getting a piece and was interested in Sam because it was more than that. "I want a serious girlfriend, someone I can love and who is going to love me back" are his words. He never says drop her off when you're done. He says take her home but you cant leave her in some parking lot somewhere. And later he says have fun, meaning driving my dad's Rolls Royce, And he apologized to her later for introducing them since she didnt get home like he thought. watch it again. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hanSaHltatCXbNk
@JayBondReacts
@JayBondReacts 2 жыл бұрын
You're skipping crucial things like "She's so blitzed she won't know the difference" as if this is about driving her home. You say he says have fun meaning driving the car, then why does he say ""She's totally gone, have fun". What would her being "totally gone" have to do with him having fun driving? You're also taking Ted's whole character out of the picture. His entire purpose was to get laid or at the very least be perceived that he's a womanizer. Even after Jake says he can violate her, Ted's immediate response is "What are you waiting for?". Jake is not oblivious to Ted's intentions which is why he suggests he take her in the first place. You're really just passing over the weird stuff as if it's not there.

The license plate V58 stands for “Vacation ‘58”, the title of the article John Hughes wrote for National Lampoon magazine. It must be due to a generational thing. So many younger people nowadays miss read the scene in the Rolls Royce. Nothing happened sexually between the geek and Jake’s girlfriend. Jake only asked the geek to make sure she got home. The joke was that they had no idea when they woke in the parking lot (fully clothed) what exactly happened the night before. It was completely innocent.

This is one of the best John Hughes "high school" movies. Obviously he wrote a lot of other stuff not involving high school (National Lampoon Vacation movies, Mr. Mom, Home Alone, Uncle Buck, Dutch, Planes Trains & Automobiles, etc.). As for his "high school" movies, by far the best is Some Kind of Wonderful. It does not try to be as funny or over the top as his other movies, it's a bit more serious, more mature, and it works. I'd rank his "high school" movies: (1) Some Kind of Wonderful, (2) Sixteen Candles, (3) Weird Science, (4) Pretty in Pink, (5) The Breakfast Club, .... (6 to infinity) anything else he wrote, (infinity + 1) Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

For some reason everyone today keeps thinking that Jake gave his gf to Ted to be taken advantage of. That's not what he did. He gave Ted the chance to drive her home because he knew that for a guy like Ted that in of itself is the thrill. He let Ted do it because he trusted Ted. That's why he said "Holy sh&t" the next morning when he saw that they were kissing because he was surprised that Ted got anywhere with her. Modern audiences being trained to see things only a certain way. Anyway great reaction.

I just started watching and I wanted to mention the binder Sam is carrying at the beginning, has the band name "The Rave Ups" written on it. Molly Ringwald was such a fan she had John Hughes feature them in "Pretty in Pink". The band would perform the song "Positively Lost Me", during one of the pivotal club scenes with Ducky and Andy. I have absolutely loved the song; and the scene it plays in, for decades.

@@JayBondReacts Good times. I don't know, I suck at a lot of things but usually i can tell when someone is putting it on, or faking, acting, etc about stuff. I think you're sincere, it's one of the reasons I'm a fan! Buuut, now I want to see this wild part lol. I know, I mean, I know KZbin so it sucks, but it's even harder when you watch those foul mouth films! Think of the children! I didn't type that with a straight face at all.

While he hasn't done the John Hughes stuff in order, "Pretty in Pink" was the last collaboration so it will appropriately be seen after the others.

@@Tr0nzoid Facts. I should have kept that out. But I'm high and antsy lol. But you're right. And would make sense.
