I think the most likely scenario here is that the Russian dating website - or a third party - pays Lana for pictures of her and then uses them to trick foreign men out of their money. They're actually in contact with her, so they're able to get new photos and maybe personalised ones when men start to get suspicious. That's the only feasible way I can imagine she would be alerted to the situation and know to show up, because they didn't want the operation to be exposed. TLC just asked her to keep up the act.

I used to have to read through previous messages to see what the worker before me talked about before picking up the conversation. You could cycle through thousands of conversations with different people. Entering my first ever serious relationship, what Leo said really struck my core. I joked around with my friends that I'm a simp but unfortunately it wasn't a joke. I used to be an independent individual, I rely on myself for my happiness and day-to-day passions. But one day, when a guy I like told me he 'likes' me back, all of my strong ideals and foundations crumbled. Everything I was taught and learned on my own about living for myself, just went down the drain. Initially, when I was with him, I began to do some things I wouldn't have if I wasn't a simp. I did things that crossed my own boundaries, I did things I never thought I would, and everything I dedicated to him. My thoughts, my time, my efforts, I couldn't stop thinking about him. And after a while, I began to feel hurt that he goes below the bare minimum when it came to me. He gives very little attention and emotional availability, and it hurt. I wondered, why was he not giving me back all of the things that I give him? What else could I possibly do to make him pay the same amount of attention and fall in love with me? It hurt, it hurt a lot. It took me jumping into the pit of despair to see it myself; just how reality worked and the cons of being a simp that followed it. I learned the hard way that being a simp isn't healthy. No matter what you try to do, if someone doesn't like you the same way you do to them, they won't like you back. Period. You have to learn to let go, you have to realize that some people are just like that. Being a simp, obsessing over someone to an unhealthy degree, is not good. But everyone can recover from a fall. I myself am slowly trying to crawl out of the hole I put myself in. It'll take a while and a few more heartbreaks, but I know I can do it. I will learn to detach myself from obsessing over my boyfriend. So to those who are still reading and are in a similar situation as me, I only have this to say. Look in yourself for happiness and satisfaction, don't put it on someone else. Try not to attach yourself to another person if possible. And if you find yourself already doing that, and feeling hurt, push through. Learn to untie yourself from being shackled down by obsession, and do your best to move on. You can do this, I believe that you can move on. We can do this, one day at a time.

I too was obsessed with my first not-evenboyfriend, in high school. At least I wasn’t under the delusion that he liked me back, even if on the surface I was always reading into everything he did and said to me, hoping to find a scrap of reciprocation. Made high school elation and torture, and I think it made me depressed because I’d have periods of emotional numbness. I thought of him every hour. I still had some self respect though. (Some) like I told myself I wouldn’t do anything stupid like try to get into the same classes or university as him. That all happened by chance, lol. I wanted to get over him but I saw him everyday and we hung out a lot and it just felt too good to not think about him. I wasn’t determined enough. It was like drugs. Then he confessed to me he was gay. It didn’t really change much, because before I was christian and he wasn’t, so he’d been unavailable to me before, but the shock gave me a foothold to get my mind off of my crush. We stayed friends during university. I still love him, but I’m not obsessed anymore. It’s more just a deep fondness. I hope it never happens again.

Like the PI said, she has dozens of profiles, it'd be incredibly hard to actually track her down. Saying yes to marrying him means nothing. Well she gets a free ring out of it, but it isn't actually worth anything, these guys always lie to foreign women telling them they're rolling in cash, see it all the time on those reality shows. Irl they've already given the women everything they had. And she has to pay those sites that she uses to scam men like this dude, they get a fee, and they probably pay people to "be her" for 99% of their chats. This is all a huge scam. That's why the Ukrainian producers were asking her those specific questions, they know exactly who she is and what she does, the only one who didn't know what's really going on is Dave or whatever tf his name is lol. He's intentionally delusional because he's desperate and wants to believe he could land a girl like that more than anything. She's just white knuckling it until he gets on his flight and leaves.

Longest long distance relationship I’ve had was 2 years. Talked everyday, on the phone together for hours a day. At the end of year 2 we both realized this isn’t healthy and how long can we just talk on the phone/video chat. thinking about a whole 5 more years is just awful.

Damn, and did you see her in person? Longest I’ve been in Long distance is like 4 months and it’s exhausting tbh 😵💫 I knew her in person tho but we lived in different cities pretty far away from each other

@@lukas_432hz sadly she is from Luxembourg Europe and I’m from California USA. we met on a game online but after basically being on a video call everyday for years we got really close. TLC 100% paid this woman to show up. Spot on as usual Leo
@Itried20takennames Жыл бұрын
Doubt it….TLC would be fine filming him being crushed, or him explaining why her absence doesn’t mean anything and that she still loves him. More likely, the dating scammers made her show up, to cover their butts and to keep the profits rolling in. Most likely, they pay a few models who are the “face” of the girl or who come to meet ups, but most likely, she wasn’t the one communicating with him…that was a bunch of random staff like the owners grandmother, grandfather, etc.

I loved this video and I love your commentary on relationships where the love and effort is unbalanced. I recently left a 14 year codependent friendship. I decided that it was better for me to just be alone as opposed to being stuck in a relationship where I feel alone but I'm waiting on the other person to change. It took 4 years of therapy before I was able to admit the truth to myself,the truth of the role I was playing in my own suffering. Waiting on people to change isn't fair,you have to love people for who they are and if who they are isn't what you desire and need leave the relationship. You can never find what you need if you keep waiting on someone to change.

You know, if we pretend that this wasn't staged, it makes perfect sense for her to say yes to the "engagement". If she says no, she might still get him back, but it would probably take some effort on her part. If she says yes, well immediately she gets a free ring she can pawn. And., she can keep the scam going on longer, easier.

Why on earth would you even try to date someone from another country when you've not even put a single second of thought or effort into learning their language? Also, these people seem to go into this devoid of any understanding of the culture of those they're trying to date, that is why it is 100% cringe.

But 7 years? You still love who? Those who want you in their life will find a way. Those who don't will find an excuse.

Small nitpick, when I was in Russia (like 15 years ago when I was a kid) they literally charged internet per data usage not per month, if I remember correctly they also like paid upfront, probably changed by now but wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. So it might have been a valid excuse that it's too pricey to videochat. I know it's wild but some places screw you over more than others.

My girlfriend and I actually met online. We spoke for about two years before we even started dating, and it was about another two years before she managed to get enough money for a plane ticket down here. The difference between this and him, is that we spoke everyday, we did voice calls, and we FaceTimed when we wanted to watch movies together or just talk. We’re still together, and since then, I’ve gone down to her place, and she’s currently planning to come down to my state again.

I admit that I was a simp for a relationship that could’ve worked if I would just let things progress as time goes on. However, unlike David, this girl really liked me, and I really liked her, but I wanted this girl so badly that I was willing to do anything for her. No matter what time of the day or where I’m at or what I’m doing, I would always put her first before anything else, and eventually I drove her away. And knowing what I did, I knew that I had to let her go, and it really is the worst thing in the world. It’s been 4 months now, and I’m doing a lot better. She eventually came back around, and we became just friends.
