Good follow up video Steve, no use me suggesting fences, but I will say that I do use my miter fence on the band saw, but not that often. Take care Mike

For resawing I use a 1/2" 4tpi blade, it does great on tall cuts. And for sharp corners I use a 1/8" blade it will make a 3/16" radius curve. As far a fence I use mine for rip cuts but that's about it. Never used a miter gauge on a bandsaw, and I can't think of a situation where one would be needed. Hope this helps.

The Carter stabilizer is used when your using 1/16" blades. This blade flexes so much the stab helps keep it tracking and from jumping off the guides. Unless u need the 1/16" blade I'd say forget the stab. Good luck with the new saw and stay safe. I have a fence and using it for Resaw is great. Grizzly make a nice fence for about $140 made for reassign and other tasks. It's whats on my saw and I love it. Happy Turnings, Marc

Yep the carter stabilizer is for cutting tighter curves with 1/4 and smaller blades. But the carter micro adjust guides with five bearings are great if somewhat expensive. I bought mine with coupon and free shipping offer and do not all regret at all with the improvement. Certainly means less removing that heavy table plus supports the blade especially wider baldes much better for zero drift rips and cross cuts.

I just recently got a new bandsaw, I'm getting one of the Carter magnetic fences for resawing, it will be useful on other tools as well. Other things I want for it are, a circle cutting jig, a jig to hold short lengths of log to cut slabs, and a V block for cross cutting logs. I recently saw in a video an adjustable miter sled that I'll make, it used the miter from a table saw for the pivot, I don't use the miter on my table saw anyway.

It might be worthwhile making a circle cutting jig for bowl blanks. Go with the most simple you can find. If I can find the one I'm thinking of I'll post it here. Best Wishes, Brendan.

Yes, I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere. Thanks!

Hi. here is my opinion. For bandsaw boxes, a very good and narrow blade (3/16) and practice curves before. Know the "limits" of the blade. Check this out: Trash To Treasure - Cabinets to Bandsawn Jewelry Box - 112 I'm a turner too and no need for miter gauge or fence... especially if you have a table saw.

Thanks for the tips

Here ya go, this is a good example. As well as the side rail under the board you could put another to stop under the board when the blade is in position, Mike uses a clamp. Band Saw Circle Cutting Jig

Also cover your table with Boesheild T-9 from Woodcraft or wherever. Then put the wax on. You'll be covered from rust on the table.

I would purchase another bandsaw and set it up with a different blade. One with a 3/4 or 1" blade with 3TC and the other for scrolling. This way, no changing blades and having to tweak the guides.

I was thinking that the paint would have been powered coated.
