As an aging "big pants small wheels" street skater I wish these tutorials were around back in the day. You're crazy good at breaking it down. It's good to see you represent skateboarding as something fun instead of putting pressure on each other to go big. Go small or medium or even skate flat if that's what you're feeling!

JB you and your team are unreal. So many skate tutorials on KZbin feel generic and rushed but you guys really take the time to shoot footage for really practical (and not flashy) things like foot placement and bail tips. The energy you have is also really great because skating can often times be really discouraging, but your positivity has got me hopping back on the board again! I’m a 27 yo skater from Florence, SC and though I’m only now learning to ollie while rolling (I keep spinning frontside), I’m dreaming of unlocking the kickflip before the years up! Many thanks brother!

Thanks for the tutorial JB. I am working on my kickflips now. As a beginner, I find it difficult to maneuver my front foot to flick sweet spot, since the foot is so far down the kinetic chain (knee, leg then foot). For the ollie, it was a lot easier for me to focus the maneuver of my knee (up and diagonal), as it is first in the kinetic chain. Once my knee was doing the right thing my leg and foot would follow. It wasn’t until I was proficient at the ollie that I could focus on what my foot was doing. I was wondering if you could explain how to do the kickflip by explaining how I should move my front knee?
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
It’s more of an Ollie than anything, the best guys use their ankle power to flick their front foot off of the nose, so build that mind to muscle connection with your foot to practice your flick. Also, I really appreciate your kindness and support! We put everything into making these for you. More awesome videos coming soon for you and use the new playlists for lessons in order. In your ollie video you state how it's important to leap forward (toward the direction of travel). Should I also leap forward during the kickflip?

Does the wheel size make a difference with flips? I ride 59mm on a 8 inch deck. My ollies are good but i never mastered flips
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
Smaller wheels are lighter and easier to flip and control the board on street. 52mm vs 60mm is a big difference! 💙🛹💙

They are probably turning bc your shoulders are twisting a bit. Sometimes not trying so hard helps to stay lined up with your board. Lmk

Nice tutorial ! When I kickflip I always turn my body and land switch. It even happens when I do it holding fence so idk what to do. It doesn't happen with varial flips though. Any tips?
@cale763 жыл бұрын
Focus on keeping your shoulders closed and parallel to your skateboard. Think about flicking your front foot like you're trying to karate kick someone next to you. Shoulders closed, bring the foot out, and then right back to where it started when the board is done flipping.
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it helps to not try so hard but definitely keep your shoulders matching your feet and if you lean over and hold the fence the whole time, you can’t spin a 180 unless you let go. Don’t let go and build a new habit! 💙🛹💙
