I followed this guide to a tee this afternoon with my own Ryzen 9 7950X3D and DDR5 7200MT/s RAM using my AIO. Literal exact same results as you. Maximum CPU temperature of 82.5C, average core clock of 4,732Mhz, with the non-X3D core spiking to 5.775Ghz and the X3D core hitting 5.350Ghz and I have barely done any core optimizing. I just did -30mv for X3D core and -20mv for non-X3D core as the Per CCD core optimizer. Also all of my fans are set to 50% max speed, lol. Good results. Thanks for you help.

You are bottlenecking your CPU with that stupid ram speed. The Infinity Fabric is capped at 6000Mhz for 1:1 ratio and you probably have horrendous latency on that ram 38 or higher I would imagine just lower it to 6000 MHZ CL28 or 30 whatever you can achieve it will be better

Yes there is a button that you can set to take you directly to the bios. It's located near the bottom right side of the motherboard if your looking at it mounted normally. (Not the button near the motherboard led error screen). It's directly below that button. You can actually change the button im talking about, in the bios, to do several things . One of them, is to boot directly to the bios. Which is what I've chosen which helped me be able to finally dial in my settings. Now my c0 runs at 3235mhz and c1 runs at 5725mhz.

I have compared and contrasted multiple videos from yourself in which you either use my CPU or my Motherboard. I swear I am doing the correct things but I can seem to get a better average GHz than around 4.7 - If you have an idea for what I could be doing wrong I would greatly appreciate the help.

I went through a manual testing process to find those values. I (briefly) detail my process in the full length SkatterBencher guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3Paf6dshalgZpI. 95C is a common temperature for Ryzen CPUs and it's fine to spike to those temperatures. Some people have suggested using the Ryzen Master auto tune tool for a base line. I always do it manually, starting at Curve Optimizer = 0, then reducing all cores by 5 (so -5 CO) and run a heavy workload like Prime95 for a couple of minutes. If no cores are unstable, next step is -10, rinse and repeat.

@@SkatterBencher 10-4. Sounds very iterative as some of your values are 0 and others range to -35 or more. Seems like the number of perturbations is quite high, ie, a lot of time figuring out which core is unstable at what nagatve setting after a crash?
@SkatterBencher
@SkatterBencher Жыл бұрын
I can become very convoluted indeed. But with experience you can apply some shortcuts that work most of the time. Essentially, you have to catch two major sources of instability: 1) frequency under high load and high temperature, and 2) frequency under light load an low temperature. 1) you can tune with Prime95 all core and all core curve optimizer as long as you're not being throttled due to CPU temperature. If that's the case, you can always test in batches of 8, 4, or 2 cores. 2) you can tune for with per-core superpi. For most CPUs this process will get you to a tuned chip relatively quickly. However, some chips are fickle and require more extensive testing

Do you still prefer the Intel 13900KS over the 7950X3D for over clocking? It’s a tough choice because the 13900KS has the superior clock speeds but the 7950X3D delivers similar performance with unmatched efficiency. Sugilover proved the Intel efficiency cores can hit 5 GHZ! Yet with Intel you have to buy a new motherboard for 14th and 15th generation whereas AMD is supporting AM5 for much longer. Edit: I went with the Ryzen 7950X in the end and the AMD 7900 XTX! Then upgraded to the Intel 14900K.

@SktterBencher #SkatterBencher - Dude, I got the 7950X3D as well. I got this CPU stable on an ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi, with 2x 16Gb DDR5 and now the very important fact @6400MHz CL32-39-39-102 ... Why are ppl telling, that the 7950X3D isn't able to run DDR5 6.400?! - That's not the truth thou. However I'm interested on the different offsets - how do you find them? I tried to max them out, by simply running benchmarks and testing systemstability by some different applications. Try-and-Error let's say. But ... in sight of DDR5 with a speed of 6400MHz, the maximum offsets are way lower than running the RAM at 6000MHz and I guess, that's because you need higher voltage on the cores, to support this higher clock-speed.
@SkatterBencher

People are saying Ryzen 7000 can't run 6400 because a lot of CPUs are unable to run stably at that frequency. Personally, I think I've only seen 1 CPU out of all the Ryzen 7000s I've tested that could run 6400 stably.

Finding the correct negative values that are stable for each core is not a 5 minute overclock even if you'll use AIDA SHA3 to find it faster. Optimizing timings and testing stability isn't a 5 minute job either. PBO for 7800X3D doesn't work since clock is hardlocked to 5050MHz.
@pixelhouse18

@@Kestrelms why is he able to do it on 7000 amd chips and not this 7800x3d? Also i have read that its possible to overclock this chip with higher end asus motherboards using the PBO settings. So your statement is false.
@Kestrelms
@Kestrelms Жыл бұрын
@@pixelhouse18 PBO won't you do a thing, both power draw and multiplier are hard limited on 3DCache chiplets. Only option to overclock is to use gigabyte masters boards, taichi boards or X670E-F or higher that has asynchronus bclk mode that can do more than 102+ only on core chiplets to use it you need to find new curve optimizers setting for each core with plenty having positive value to make it stable. PBO is not BCLK OC those are two different things

, I honestly hate this processor. I know every new adopter is going to experience growing pains but my cpu just stays constantly running all 32threads at 4.9ghz sometimes barely even hitting 5ghz. I did a negative 20 offset but to every core. For example in cinebench single thread most people score around 2200 where as I got 1800. In 3d mark my system runs all 32threads and others with my exact setup i compare my scores to and it shows they were using same drivers etc exactly the same . Except their highest speed was 5.7ghz and mine was 5.02ghz, then it showed logical/physical cores and mine was 1/32 and there is 1/16. Meaning their cpu is switching to the higher clock speed cores while mine is using the slower but more cores. I cant figure out why I cant get my system to go past 5.02ghz and use the higher speed cores? I dont know great video as always I'm just frustrated and sick of this cpu. What makes it even worse is my system runs atleast 10 degrees cooler then other systems . During all benchmarking the cpu temperatures never passed around 55 degrees. Where most people running a aio cooler are getting around 65 degrees and higher. That just makes me more frustrated knowing I have all that head room .

@StillUp2Date , having only worked with intels for over 20 years, my frustrations were more with upgrading to a new generation of motherboard, pcie5, on top of learning all of the amd jargon to know what does what etc. Once I stopped being angry, and remembered every intel chip I upgraded early to (pentium lol) and the growing pains , this was actually way easier once I learned how to undervolt amd cpus etc. Now it's running insane. Lol 😆 atleast I'm being honest. We have all been there whenever we decided to upgrade early, new ram generation, new motherboard, new cpu lol its part of the fun.

I'm sorry, I can not believe that, because OOB without tweaking, the 7950x3d will not operate at any frequency above 5.2GHz on the frequency cores and 4.8GHz on the X3D cores. To get 6.5GHz you need to have an AMD selected platinum binned GPU, on a test bench, using a custom pot and LN2 to cool it, and even then, there's no guarantee of even reaching 6GHz. From some random KZbin commenter? Not likely.
