This assembly video goes hand in hand with the written instructions included with the files. In an effort to keep the video quick paced some steps may have been missed or not explained perfectly clear. Please reference the instructions to be sure nothing is missed.
The SkeeRide 2 is a complete new design.
Taking from the knowledge gained from the
SkeeRide and all of the community feedback,
the SkeeRide 2 has been strengthened and
improved in all aspects of the design. You can
expect better durability, smoother suspension,
and greater performance. Due to these
changes the build will require more parts and
may be considered a more complex build in
comparison to the original SkeeRide.

Absolutely great video. I really liked how you pre-adjusted the vise grips to keep from applying to much pressure and get exact fit in nut inserts. 💯 % smart. I miss this diy assembly in RC. I enjoyed building more than actual operation and I feel the owner has more of an appreciation and understanding for the model. Its sad everything is rtr nowadays but its more about sales and fairness to the mechanically incompetent. Again great video.

Do the shocks have internal springs? And what would be a good weight oil to put in them? This is an awesome build, and I'm going to be printing the parts this summer.

Yes, internal springs. I don’t run oil in mine but a lot of people do. Best to ask on the discord server for what weight is best. It’s pretty slow on there now that snow is gone, but someone may chime in.

That's a neat G5, really easy looking assembly. That track angle on the front looks a bit sharp though, but judging by the previous video it seems to work in pow👍

You can manipulate it same as a real sled with the limit strap. It makes a huge difference

@@jakepeterson3379 Yeah ik. I put a stiff o-ring on the front swing, that seems to hold it well enough on soft and allows more travel when jumping and wheeling. Will have to test a bit more to see if it works properly or not. Also doesn't sag and snap or catch the track when it gets loose on landings

What are the dimensions of the bigger prints? The tunnel looks pretty big. Afraid that will not fit on my printer. same with the skid rail but that I see is available in a multi part print too.

There are cut versions of all the big pieces to fit 220x220 print area, possibly smaller but I haven’t tested that. Everything can be printed without the split pieces on 350x350.

There is a calculator in the faq section on the discord server that you can use to choose different length belt’s depending on gear size. So if you change the size of the gears, then yes, you can change the length of the belt.

Have you thought about making the opening on the skid that holds the shock a little bigger. I bought the same shocks in the sheet buy had to scrap away a lot to get it to fit between the mount. I'll post pics in discord to what I'm talking about.

It’s mostly for looks, that’s where a big display is on the real sled. It gives you battery voltage though, so it’s nice to look at and know when your battery is getting low.

Just snagged an elegoo neptune 4 pro,I don’t know shit about 3D printing lol but will the printer being klipper effect the files at all? Or should I still be able to match print settings and good to go?

Klipper won’t hurt anything. You may need to tune your settings some. I would try some small parts to begin with to be sure your settings are dialed in.

Bought the skeeride 2 files yesterday and got Cura set up with my machine parameters with structural/non structural profiles, sliced and tested looks perfect now I just gotta verify and tune my settings and start laying out parts! Lol, It prints 250mm/s and I got rapid + PLA so I’m curious to see how fast it prints all said and done and how it turns out at those speeds, I’ll probably try 200 ish at first

@@BuildItBetter3D going great so far 😎 all frame parts are done, just track left and I’ll have a roller! … ski…er? Track-er?……roller! Lol. And then body panels and accessories next! ended up splitting up the track by A B and C and doing 13 of each kind at a time, printing 13 of A right now 👍🏻 I had a little trouble at first with black filament vs the white but I just had to use raft (like I had to with a lot of the white parts too) and go down 10 degrees on the head, 2 degrees on the bed and slow down my initial layer 👍🏻 the models are awesome!

How big of a batter can you run in this it says 2/6s but I’m not sure what will fit like how big is the box size I have a Traxxas 3s 4000 and 5000mah battery’s but I’m nut sure if I will have to buy a new smaller one

I run 3s 1500 with plenty of room to spare. Not sure exactly the measurement of the area. Plenty of people on discord could tell you what they are getting to fit. A downside to a big battery is it gets top heavy and tips more easily.

There are recommendations included in the instructions. You can also ask on the discord server. Most standard 1/10 or 1/8th scale electronics will work. You’ll want a lower kv motor 1800-2200kv.

I think there are lots of places that will do it for you, but I haven’t done it that way. I cut mine out with a silhouette cutter.

There should be little to no bump steer. The original SkeeRide had a bump steer issue, but that was corrected with the SR2.

You should have made housings in the tunnel for bearings and used a steel driveshaft. The plastic shaft and no bearings doesn’t thrill me.

It does use bearings. The plastic shaft rarely fails, but there is also a jig included to make a metal shaft.

@@BuildItBetter3D ok good to know I was getting worried I’m almost done printing it and it looked like there were no bearings but they must sit inside the covers not in the tunnel. I haven’t printed the cover or the pulley tensioning system. Thanks!
