I could have watched another hour, I know I’ll watch it at least once more to make notes of the conifer names. Please come back again in the winter and a follow up every year or in two years to see the growth would certainly be watched. It’s just so impressive, the thoughtful choice of conifers, the locations and companion plants, the concepts in the vegetable gardens, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen and Bruce knows the names of everything. To plan a landscape from scratch is a challenge, he is obviously very good at this. His neighbours must be appreciative of the borrowed view, i certainly would be.

Bette, you're very nice. Thank you. God created us all different but I'm not much of a planner. I kinda know in my head what I want and go with it. My gardens start small and then evolve around that. Flying by the seat of my pants in other words. In the future Justin plans to list the plant names on the screen as we talk about them. Appreciate you watching.

Thank you Sunny Day. The Lord has blessed me to enjoy this. My grandparents were very clean gardeners. My grandfather was known in the rural town I grew up in has having the cleanest gardens. My raised beds and no dig methods might get a curious look from him today. Ha!

@bruceduncan17922 жыл бұрын
Thanks E. Yes, we do get snow some. two maybe three times. It usually disappears within a week. Once in a while we get a dumping of two feet or so and it may stick around longer. Winters in the Western Carolina foothills can go from sunny and high's in the 60's for a few days and then temps not getting out of the 20's a few days. And back and forth like that all season. By that time my beds will have cabbage, collards, carrots, kale, chard, and other cool weather crops. And our snows are usually not enough to kill them. We have more problems with ice and freezing rain than snow.

An amazingly beautiful garden space. A love of conifers is evident but the variety of plants here is just so impressive. And, the vitality of the plants is a testimonial to your compost and soil applications. I am in zone 7 in Virginia so I understand perfectly clay soil and humidity, a deadly combination. A gorgeous example of a committed gardener, and a knowledgeable man who has great taste.

Hi Maureen, thanks for the kind words. Julie and I took a few days recently and car toured VA via the Parkway. She's a teacher and off for the summer. We loved it. Good Luck with the clay and humidity. HA! I feel your pain.

@@bruceduncan1792 glad you got to see a most beautiful part of Virginia. I too am a teacher, retired now for a few years, and am enjoying the time I have to devote to my garden. You have created a beautiful space and something to be very proud of.

I am grateful that there is youtube. Can't believe my eyes and feel lucky to have seen your garden Brue. Thank you very much for allowing us to see it. I plan to watch this video again and again, with the hope to absorb this intense knowledge, and get a feel of philosophy behind its design.
