WoW. I’ve never heard of this before. Looks so good. We make a apple crumble in Australia … loads more work with the eggs etc. It’s named crumble because the top has crumbly toasty bits on all over made with fine oats mixed with flour, sugar butter and cinnamon mixed by kneading the butter, sugar, flour etc with finger tips and sprinkling on top 10 mins before serving. Yummy but like I said loads more work. I’ve fallen in love with your gorgeous apple desert and how easily you’ve made it. Big smiles 🙃🦘🐨♥️🇦🇺

Yours looks so good! Every time I try to make this type of cobbler, it comes out gummy…yuck. Yours looks nice and crisp. Is it maybe the cast iron?

The cast iron is just a heat conductor. I make these in 9 x 13 pans also. Preheating the pan and butter really helps. You may need to use a higher heat setting or cook longer.

@@KenClick I also have never made this with pie filling, but only with canned fruit. That may make a big difference as pie filling has corn starch in it. It’s not as runny as canned fruit.

Hi Ken, thanks again for the quick recipe. I used peaches I had, used some of the juice in place of some of the milk. Had a 10.5 inch cast iron pan so added @ quarter to 1/2 cup more flour & slightly more sugar, butter, etc. Bottom carmelized & let cook a bit longer then 45 mins with oven off, then cooled for @ 20 minutes. Will try apple next time or mix them

Just in time to make in my regular oven that at the beginning of the pandemic I assumed had gone kaput. Iirc, I found time and temp lights flashing and whatever I attempted didn't work so I just did without. A friend helped me recently and voila, not broken. In the skillet department, I inherited a cast iron skillet that came out of a storage shed. It's a bit rusty and I've never used it. Your yummy cobbler is tempting me! I'd very much appreciate any suggestions on giving it a thorough cleaning. Thanks.
