If you read the text on the screen at 9:34 the middle paragraph states that "Eyecam is a design fiction prototype exploring potential futures of sensing devices." Perhaps the designer is just trying to bring awareness to the fact that sensing devices are all around us on a daily basis and are essentially ignored for the most part. By making it look like a "real" eye it really solidifies that its always watching and I'm pretty sure is meant to just be a statement on all the info we let our sensing devices see on a daily basis.

"The intensity of the touch controls the size of the emojis" = "Emojis get bigger and smaller depending on how hard you touch/press into it". I don't think any of this is for sale, they're fictional and designed to trigger discussions on the future of devices that can sense and interact with the environment. They are creepy and no one would want them lol. Idk I'd probably have chosen another direction if my goal is was to spark ideas and future considerations of intuitive tech but I'm not out there making this stuff.

The eye camera part comes off as a commentary on privacy in an era where people have accepted that cameras are everywhere, to the point that they don't think about it. Having a human eye staring at you makes you feel like you're being watched, and forces you to think about the camera pointing at you. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's the impression it gave me.

I am pretty sure this thing wasnt really ment to be a usefull product that people should be able to buy, but more like a test/prototype of a sensor device that kind of replicates skin in the means of feeling where it is touched and how. The concept seems interesting. I bet they just put it on a phone because it was easy to get results with becasue they could just wire the sensors to functions on the phone or whatever. I believe it would be more interesting if they would test these robot skins on actual robots to make them more humanlike or something. I think they are ahead of their time. They probably thought: "since human like robots aren't that accurate yet and very expensive let's put it on a phone".
