Ok so in defence of Kay (god I never expected to be in this position) I live on a council estate in the North East Of England which is very poor and often full of poverty. Dishes like this are the essential "What do I have in my cupboards to last me until payday" food. We used to call it concoction day because we would find anything from the freezer or the cupboards and make a concoction of a dish with whatever we had. I think this is where Kay's food comes from. She has just made do for so long that that's all she knows.

Of all the thinks to pick at, baking a potato in the microwave is the most normal. It takes over an hour to bake a potato in the oven, it takes 15 minutes in the microwave AND they don't dry out as bad. Even people like me who literally grows my own vegetables to cook things from pure scratch, isn't gonna waste time I don't have to lol. Microwave food being lower quality is a myth, if you know how to use it properly you can make anything in a microwave, even pies and cakes and stuff.
