Good topic! Taking too much Zinc is no joke. And easy to do, considering most (US) supplements seem to be too high to begin with. My multi vitamin usually does the trick, but I will take a little more if I travel on a plane or I am sick. It seems to help, for me. Just be careful with supplementing, y’all!

Amazing. I wish I had seen this sooner. I spent 4 years with a nail infection and secondary one treated with steroids that destroyed my fingertips. I went to many doctors - excellent Los Angeles doctors - and not one theorized zinc deficiency. My nails have recovered in last year but I could tell they were still susceptible to regressing. Although I had researched to death, It wasn’t until I got white spots on my nails that i tied it to zinc deficiency. I had all the signs you mention. I also had some inexplicable rashes for a year or so. I described poor healing too. I had no cuticles left. I had at worst, terrible paronychia. I am in the second month or so of daily zinc supplements now and my nails have finally grown longer - as they used to. I don’t feel that “susceptibility to regress” sensation at all now. Funny enough, there was only one hand cream out of all that I tried that helped heal it - and yep, it has zinc where the others didn’t (weleda skin food). So thanks for putting this out there. To hear you know so much and to have so many doctors not put it together cost me 4 years. You didn’t mention gluten intolerance - I have it - and the malabsorption issues before I also self-diagnosed that - gave me inexplicable knee pain for 2 years, from B12 malabsorption. It’s from that that I know malabsorption can be root cause of virtually everything. Great video! I hope it helps many!!

@parisinthe30sx2 жыл бұрын
Do you have any symptoms with celiac disease? I have low potassium, and extreme hair loss the past 3 years. I can't seem to figure out why my potassium is so low, but someone told me celiac disease can cause hair loss.
@melodyandbryanphillips83042 жыл бұрын
@@parisinthe30sx I’m dealing with this now, I’m so mad, I’ve been seeing my doctor for nearly a decade, my brother and son have celiac, but she never tested me. After having increasingly more and more random, seemingly random Symptoms, I said test me, then she never tested me for nutrient deficiencies ☹️ so after researching and researching myself, tracking my food, I asked can you test me for vitamin D? My vitamin D was low, I said can you test me for E, my e was low. I started taking a multivitamin, (why didn’t she test me ever even one time still for all of them? Cuz she sucks) but anyways, I started a very strong multi, some of my first symptoms like 6-8yrs ago, was hair issues, it’s gotten worse and worse, losing too much, tangly, just not right, since I’ve been on the multi for nearly a month, I noticed for the first time in all these years, that I’m not losing hardly any hair. I actually thought losing that much hair was normal bc I had gotten use to it. It’s not. My hair is feeling different too, like softer. I quit gluten 6months ago. I was also having muscle issues, I started drinking calm, just to try and see if maybe it was magnesium, and for the first time in months, my muscles feel a little bit better. Vitamin deficiency sucks.
@Dkb5222 жыл бұрын
@@parisinthe30sx I never had any symptoms. It was found by chance when dealing with my gall bladder. But after I found it I had my blood work done and lots of things were low…vitamin D, iron, magnesium, etc. And what gets thrown off with vitamins is different from person to person due to the malabsorption. So yes it can thrown potassium off. It’s been 10 years since diagnosis and I’ve got things figured out. You can request a celiac panel…they don’t even need to confirm with an endoscopy anymore. But I recommend working with a GI dr.

Hi Dr. Dray. Hope you could also talk about Vit. Cnext time. Is there such a thing as taking too much vitamin C? Is supplementing better than applying it topically?
@PassionPno Жыл бұрын
The upper limit of oral Vitamin C is 2000mg per day. Even so, that’s still very high dose and can burden your kidneys (too much vitamin c can cause kidney stones). Try not to go over 1000mg per day. As for topically, over 20% of Vitamin C doesn’t improve your skin any further but instead can cause irritation.

It has an almost drug like effect when taken on an empty stomach, careful though some people can get nauseous, and the optimal dosage is around 60 mg, regardless of what the internet says, an imbalace of copper does not matter we dont want copper anyways.
