Interestingly enough I had my DNA tested with The DNA Company. I have an abnormal gene (SLC30A8) which influences how zinc is transported in the body. I have had hair, skin, blood sugar and immune issues for years. Traditional medicine only wants to treat the symptoms and rarely tries to determine the cause I have always eaten a very healthy diet but with a small dose of zinc my problems have improved. Seriously, when is the last time anyone went to their physician and their zinc levels were checked? We need to change our model from treatment of disease to prevention

Hair loss is sometimes caused by an autoimmune disorder. I suffer from chronic inflammation due to an autoimmune disorder. Recently, my hair starting falling out from the roots. At the same time, my body had a lot of inflammation which resulted in severe pain. I started taking zinc but not for my hair, for sleep. I noticed how my inflammation went away and my hair stopped falling out as well. When I stopped taking zinc, the symptoms returned. When I started back on the zinc, again the symptoms went away. Also, I've read that a zinc deficiency can increase production in pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Funny true story that happened today. So I've been suffering with what a doctor diagnosed as Seborrheic dermatitis for the past 10 years. I'm 45 years of age. Prior to this I had crystal clear skin. I now have this on my face and it's really quite bothersome. So I was thinking about it today, as I am going to see a Dermatologist next month. Quite randomly and totally out of the blue I just got this thought 'Take Zinc.' Now you gotta bear in mind I haven't the foggiest clue what Zinc does or even what foods to find it in. It was so bizarre. So low and behold I googled Zinc and Skin Conditions and was shocked to find out the benefits related to what I believe I have. I've never been convinced it's Seborrheic dermatitis. Anyways, bizarre but true. I shall keep you posted!

I’ve read that zinc works really well to clear up HPV spots. Most of the articles I’ve read only mention Zinc sulfate though. Which form would be best? Sulfate or Picolinate?

I am currently undergoing laser sessions in order to remove my body hair and the cosmetician told me to stop the hairgrowth supplements that I was taking for my hairgrowth on my scalp. Is there some sort of topical zinc that I could use only on my scalp or something else I could use topically in order not to loose this hair regeneration that I had while taking supplements? Thank you verry much for everyting you do for us!

Hi Dr. Dray. I’m a menopausal woman and started taking about 12 mg of zinc daily 2 months ago to help my hair shed and immune health. It does seem to have helped my hair because my thinning areas look better and my shedding has lessened and is pretty stable. However, I’ve noticed a lot more short hairs shedding. Can the zinc be causing this? Thank you very much.

could it be that the alopecia patients were just using the wrong type of zinc? you mentioned zinc gluconate and zinc sulfate. maybe if they took zinc bisglycinate, which is a more absorbable form of zinc, they could've had better results?
