Thank you for not stopping offering important help but also including everyone in the conversation! I felt terribly for so long for not having skin to skin moments with my baby on our first 5 days in the clinic.

My husband wasn’t held by his mother for almost half the day after maybe a few more hours, they both swear to this day that’s one of the reasons they don’t feel a natural bond with each other

@noah.r.stewart6666 Well, I believe bond is built, so you got to put some effort into it. And with kids, you have plenty of time ahead to do so.

@@patreloxtapodaki my husbands mom was a nurse so he was always babysat by his grandma or aunts. So sadly she wasn’t around much, that is until he was older. So I don’t think they ever got that chance

This was not a thing when I delivered but after we got home & his eyebrows were all crusty, I scrubbed my finger n mine & rubbed it on his. His eyebrows cleared up quickly 👍😁

I have also recently heard, that it is very important to do a lot of skin to skin (even 6h per day!) in those early weeks of baby's life, not only first day in the hospital, but then at home (even when it's hot). I helps the baby to sooth and bond with parents❤

No one told me that it helps with blood sugar until just now. We had to stay longer at the hospital because my baby's blood sugar was low.

I was around when we implemented this policy, so I can report the differences (anecdotally) first-hand: Mom will stop shivering sooner (usually hormone related, but also temp regulation); baby stays warm (blood flow to mom’s chest increases to warm them, and if dad is recruited, men run hotter anyway); baby can sometimes latch naturally without a nurse dripping sweat on you; and you have a valid excuse to hang on to your baby!🎉 The difference skin2skin makes was absolute magic compared to the old ways. Particularly baby staying warm!!

My mom wasn't able to have the skin to skin moment immediately with her third baby because he wasn't breathing when he came out. Luckily after a few days in the NICU and another hospital, my mom was able to visit him and have skin to skin time.

My son i jad in 2011 i jad never heard of skin to skin contact. Hospital didn't give him to me til he was diapered swaddled and hat on. My 2nd i had in 2021 skin to skin wasa huge deal he went right on me no diaper nothing. And peed all over my neck and face 😂 but o have ptsd from delivering during COVID-19 alone, with no support person not even my husband, no visitors, my son not eating properly qnd having no support at all during that time. Not Being able to leave my room at all, also i was required to wear my mask during pushing him out and delivery almost passed out bx i couldn't brwthe with it on my face.. i ripped it off told them ur not sending me hime with a baby half way delivered lol. I xouldnt wcen go to Starbucks in the lobby. I was so alone at such a vulnerable time. It was supposed to be a special experience for me and my husband to bring him inro ty66he world together. I ended up with ppd

My first had to go to the NICU via ambulance after birth. I didn't get to hold him at all till he was 7 days old. It was the hardest thing and I feel like I am still healing from it. 😮‍💨 We are fine but it was definitely rough.

I had severe preeclampsia and HELP syndrome with my second baby, he was 12 weeks premature, as soon as he and I were able to do skin to skin which was about a week after birth, we both improved and started healing so much faster, skin to skin is amazing and healing no matter when you get it.

I had an emergency c-section under general anesthesia, so I didn't even get to meet my daughter until she was almost 2 days old. She was also in NICU so out physical contact was limited for 2 months. We still have a close bond.

Sure it is! This said the more babies you have the thinner. your lower uterus can get as it grows so there is concern about having a large number of pregnancies if you deliver by c-section. But could chat about it with your provider so they can go over this! But lots of people have lots of babies :)
