TheJuggernautzombie he not the only one supporting them many other rappers bought plenty of pair and he dismissed the shoes at first until skip said he bought a pair. Shannon is passive-agressive hater be honest
@TheJuggernautzombie7 жыл бұрын
1. Those shoes never came to him even after all these months so you cant blame him for being mad. 2. Its honestly not passive aggressive hating, Lavar has clearly shown signs of craziness, plus its the longest shots of longshots that this plan will work and shannon is just pointing that out. Theres a difference between being realistic and hating. Hating is what kristine was doing, which was before lavar has even done half of what hes done today. Now in fairness you probably need some crazy in you to make certain business moves work, but lavar seems to be a bit too crazy. And just getting all the resources he needs to make this work is gonna take a whole lotta help. Plus as good as lavar has been for his kids branding, its a bit hard to believe he would do that for other kids as well.
@idontgivesashit31697 жыл бұрын
TheJuggernautzombie lavar is just believing in his son publicly not being crazy at all when you have one do the same might get results , umm it’s a reason it’s a idea the nba wasn’t that popular at first everything starts somewhere and Shannon said why should he get the shoes while Lonzo was fresh out of college and said and I quote “why would I buy shoes from a unproven rookie in the draft” if you agree with that that’s any who hasn’t had a good career in the nba should have shoes I.e. Kanye West but I digress saying a league that isn’t made is crappie then wishing him luck passive aggressively hating

Dont get too fired up about this decision because it doesn’t have any sustainability. If Lavar’s league starts taking off and gaining momentum the NBA is just going to ditch the one and done rule, (they’re the ones that started it to begin with). I’m sure he can sign a few that can’t make it in the NBA, but they already have a G-league. Does he want to run a shoe company or a basketball league?

I don’t think he’d have a problem filling up arenas. Chino Hills, Mater Dei, Sierra Canyon, and Bishop Montgomery sold out USC’s arena for the open division state semi finals. So if he had a similar system where all the teams play on the same day I think he’d be able to sell out arenas.

I think this concept would work if the teams were franchises spread out in second tier cities in medium sized arenas and marketed as the 2nd division of basketball in the country. Let who ever wants to play in whether they are 18 or 30. I would see good basketball for cheaper ticket prices than the nba offers.
@jacknmdl7 жыл бұрын
More than 150,000 young men play high school basketball every year, and only about 45 get drafted into the NBA. That's 0.03 percent. Their average NBA career duration: 4.8 years. And then they are out. At the same time, thousands of accountants, computer professionals, marketing managers, health professionals, scientists and others graduate from colleges and get good jobs and start life-long careers. When is everyone going to wake up and realize that pinning all your hopes on becoming a famous athlete or celebrity is about as smart as spending all your pay on lottery tickets? It's a waste of time for 99% of them. Get an education in a good field and work hard at your career; that's all it takes to succeed today.

@ohmanyourecool17 жыл бұрын
"Kids". Please don't act like this league is some charity foundation for church kids in need. There's a lot of logistics and rules that need to be put in place. Who's going to be scouting this league in order to accept prospects into the NBA? Who's going to authorize these signings that entail millions of $ for the league? That's a lot of liability and the NBA needs to be sure players in this JBA are healthy, know how to actually play and condition, and where they stand athletically. Leagues have physicians, trainers, coaches, staff and all that - who's going to be sure they're all credible, competent, and can provide for the best interest to these "players" for the sake of hoping to join the NBA? Not to mention payrolls - who's going to fund all that? How about revenue, there's uncertainty in how much this league can even bring in to finance staff and pay players. Just being realistic.

The logistics of it are much more difficult than people think. If they don't have substantial sponsorship the league won't survive and you can already count out Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma, and Under Armour. We're talking a lot of money too: Lavar said he wants 10 teams, 80 players total. I won't review all the calculations but for player salaries, coach and staff salaries, equipment, cost of renting practice facilities, coat of renting an NBA arena for an event, concessions and event staff and security, etc etc, we're probably talking operating expenses of around $10-15 million a month. It's not as easy as people think it will be, and there's the fact that he's probably not going to attract much top 75-100 as they can all go to top 25-30 d1 schools.

Fact Check: 1. Melo is 17 years old and when he is available for the NBA draft in 2020, there won't be another kid in his class with the experience that he will have-he will have been playing against grown men for years. 2. The JBA was created for the kids who didn't have the mental aptitude for college, flunked out of college, or didn't want to go to college but do possess a good enough basketball skill set to play at the next level. 3. Annually there are only about 120 players going to the NBA and G League. LaVar via the JBA, gives them another platform to showcase their skills and since he can recruit nationally and schedule games, overseas; he is able to allow foreign teams to get a first hand look at these kids talents before they sign them. Why aren't these guys talking about the NEW overseas opportunities that the JBA is making available. 4. Neither the NBA nor the G League have a vested interest in seeing US basketball talent go abroad unless THEY DON'T WANT THEM. LaVar is interested in these kids getting to play professionally, whether it be in the US or abroad, so WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT THAT 5. Because of the present college recruiting system, many black players given scholarships, really are not academically prepared for college or don't have the aptitude for college. College coaches know this but just MOVE ON TO NEXT YEAR'S CLASS. Many of these players never get to finish their freshmen or sophomore year and you never hear about them again. The JBA was established to give these kids another platform to showcase their talents. 6. Now that LaVar has the JBA, I can see him only growing it, especially after Gelo and Melo are gone because, via the JBA, he will soon become one of " The Go Guys" for US basketball talent, because he can schedule games, let the coaches see how these kids play against their players, ALL prior to them being signed. 7. Please check out the online interview of the coach from the JBA's first game in Dennmark, because in it his talks about the 3 American players on his team and he states that on average his players were 4-5 years OLDER then the players of the JBA. Oh, and the JBA WON THE GAME (120-118); so don't think that it hasn't crossed his mind that via LaVar/JBA he can NOW get the same players but WHO ARE 4-5 YEARS YOUNGER. This reduces "overseas recruitment costs" for these teams and eventually will reduce the need to communicate with their contacts in the AAU, NCAA, G League, NBA. It also will drive the salaries/benefits up in the G League; remember LaVar has already said that next year he will be offering up to 17 times more money-50K/month, and if so, this will change everything and it will allow many of these kids to get lucrative deals , overseas. 8.Whether you like LaVar, JBA or not THEY ARE PRESENTLY overseas representing the UNITED STATES and we at least applaud their effort. You have to ask yourself, "What were these kids doing before the JBA? Also what wonderful experience to be able to be in a junior basketball league, play nationally and internationally. No, the JBA is a wonderful entity for the kids who have fallen through the cracks, it's just started by THE WRONG GUY because had the JBA been the brainchild of a white boy, even one with the same temperament as LaVar, THE MEDIA WOULD HAVE AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT SPIN ON THIS. Luckily for LaVar he already outflanked ALL the US Media outlets when he partnered with Facebook, which gives him GLOBAL Exposure. 9. Funny, I don't either one of these guys worrying about ALL the black players that don't make it past their freshmen or sophomore year or the fact that via the JBA many of these kids will probably get to play overseas. 10. Personally, I want to see what Skip and Shannon are going to be saying if these kids are successful and some of them get to play in the G league or overseas.

Think about it, a kid who knows he will struggle to be in school and pay to be in school just to get a chance to play ball for a team to be noticed by the pros. Or he goes to play for Mr. Ball , get paid, has a chance for scouts to watch them play, and maybe pro players watch also.... the down side... well is the same as any other sport, either you're good and get noticed or you're not and help those with talent be noticed.

Anyone who thinks this will work is a clown. You have any idea how much capital it would cost do do this? FYI Jordan might not even have enough money to start a league to compete with the multi-billion dollar industry that is the NCAA.

K.J.M.K. What a poor excuse, who told you Jordan can't start good own league?? From this comment I can tell you're a 2 dimensional thinker with no goals or ways to help other people make, this is what separates an ordinary person like you from a man with a ruling class mentality like LeVar.

I REALLY HOPE HE SUCCEEDS WITH THIS LEAGUE .. america suppose to be the free-market but it seems that the sports entertainment has a monopoly and NO ONE says anything about it .. we definitely need our own Football League, Players, and Ownership ..

I think these ideas are just fine, we need competition in these areas or else we get only one choice and that choice has all the power.

Shannon is not hating. He's just giving his opinion on the matter. I'm like Shannon the best of luck to him on the business side. But he's all about himself.

Perry David Lol how. He said its a good idea in theory and that he should try it. He just doesn't think top recruits are going to pick Lavar's league over playing a year for the college of their choice. And if they want to play for money they can go to the G league or overseas.

Is Lavar even making any money on his Big Baller Brand? I don't anyone who is wearing those shoes.
@RemedySound7 жыл бұрын
They don't want Lavar to do it because talk about a SHIFT within the sport.. he'll easily be in the 100's of millions by the second year of the league.

As hard as it is to say, the "Ball" name is too big now! There's no way they wont make it to the league and keep the family name alive. Their brand is worldwide man
