1) Jason Bourne would probably not exist without Bond 2) Bourne is American, not British, and that brings is a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to a series 3) Bourne had 3 novels about him, Bond had 12 and 3 short stories, so they have more to go on. To anyone who says it's formulaic, that's because 007 movies invented the formula. If it works it is how the formula is used not the fact they use a formula, eg Quantum of Solace- Bad, Casino Royale- Good. I hope that clears it up a wee bit :)

Bond works for the "Secret Intelligence Service (MI6)" the foreign intelligence service. Not, the "Security Service (MI5)". That's why Bond movies are set outside the UK.

We have this strange reality now where Bond had to reinvent itself because of Bourne (well, and because face transplants/invisible cars was jumping the shark just a little bit) but now Bourne has reinvented itself without the title character. Bond needs to find its own place, still, because both Casino Royale and Quandary of Boris were deeply flawed.

I really wish they wouldn't make Bond into a generic action movie, but rather would go back to the more old-school spy stuff from the first movies. Granted, they where very action-oriented for the time, but we have enough movies like that now, and not enough movies like "Three Days of the Condor".

I have to admit, this one I do want to see. Wasn't a big fan of Daniel Craig as Bond, though I liked him in the first one he did. This one seems to have some humor in it which was missing from the last two, over serious, films. This one looks cool.

Wen they're in the office and Craig's Bond meets Ralph Fienne's character, and he kind of has a little dig at him as he leaves the door, I knew right then he was gonna b his new Boss. Skyfall is certainly a return to form for Bond, especially since Q of S. Im just mostly plzd they finally got all the classic characters in now, Q, Moneypenny. Altho Im not mad on that young guy as Q, not so much cus hes young, but more cus he looks sum nerdy brother of one od those 1D guys.

Because you're not the global arbitrator of preference over Jason Bourne or James Bond. Because James Bond is a classic and almost timeless. Because James Bond is a staple and ambassador of Britain while Jason Bourne isn't yet prolific enough to be a staple and is an ambassador for a different nation, the USA. By all means, let Jason Bourne continue, I liked all his movies so far but he isn't about to replace James Bond any time soon.
