Sky News host reacts to ‘bizarre’ woke Paris Olympics opening ceremony

Sky News host Caleb Bond weighs in on a “bizarre” Paris Olympics drag performance during part of the opening ceremony.
It comes as the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony is being slammed with some planning to boycott the games in protest following part of the ceremony which showed what appeared to be a nod to Leonardo da Vinci's painting 'The Last Supper'.
“Watching the lampooning of Christianity which should be allowed to be done I have no qualms with that but if you’re going to do it at least be equal opportunity about your lampooning of religion,” Mr Bond said.
“It’s just pathetic.”

@@abluerainbow I would argue that religion is not the problem but rather the tendency of the human being to be attracted to fanaticism which can be observed in many instances that have nothing to do with religion (wokeism, witch hunts, communism) - religion is a natural breeding ground but that is because we are the problem not religion. Today we worship other ideologies. At the heart of religion is the exact opposite of what religion is predominantly criticized for. It's when the fanatics take up the ideology and use it (and abuse it) in ways it was never intended. This makes it attractive to money and power which will subvert anything that has power over people. I do get where you coming from but I would caution against throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Lots of really good people out there that follow religion in the right way and lots of people out there that are not religious that are fanatical and end up perpetrating the same "transgressions" that the religious community as a whole is accused of. During the Renaissance there was a prominent painter known as "il Sodoma" which literally means the sodomite because he liked to have young men around him all the time! I trained for 15 years to try and make the Olympics. I watched the opening ceremony with my 7 year old daughter and switched it off and haven’t bothered watching the Olympics this year. She was asking why there were 3 people in a room together shutting the door and I thought ‘why am I having to answer this question to a 7 year old. Disgusting.

I think someone should stand up and tell those people that the Olympics are an event that unites people around the world and should not bring in religious or political themes. They should not even reject Russia. They should not reject everyone, even criminals. But they messed it all up. I've been watching the opening ceremony of every Olympic Games since I was a kid, but this time I was really disappointed and doubtful about the organization of the Olympic Games. If there is another opening ceremony, I don't plan to do it. Let my kids watch the live stream.
