This is why I consistently watch this channel - unbiased, constructive commentary without belittling any opposition. When you can honestly say that a certain player from your own team shouldn’t be in the Dream Team, that’s another level of credibile commentary considering Smith & Russell...& pls don't get me wrong because this is by no means me taking away NZ nomination at 10 at all...I'm a huge AB fan as well...Think we were also surprised by Marx...just stating how I view this shows credibility .. As a South African, I know we often get a bad rap as the worst fans but we can also show appreciation 😊... so well done on a great show

To all you whinging Saffers. The French coach deserved the title of Coach of the Year. He took a side rated No. 1 in the world to No. 4 in the world despite having amazing depth of talent. It takes exceptional skill as a coach to do that. If only Foster was on the same short list....

The biggest problems are at centre and 2nd five. Jordie was sadly missed in the Italian game. Ioane is poor. He doesn't make breaks, doesn't off load , dies with the ball. Linart Brown is a journeyman, Havilli does not have it any more. The centres are not feeding the wings or fullback. Is Scott Barrett the right guy for captain Ardie Savea?? We tend to forget Italy has had a very good European season so should not be written off.

Listening to Hansen's voice, tells me maybe a lot of the AB's players were a little bit under the weather for Italy. Perhaps there is cold going through the team. Whatever is going through the Northern hemisphere right now, it is a bit energy sapper. I was sick with it from November 4 to 24 after two days I gave up any exercise for a full two weeks. Went for my first real run today. It has been a full three weeks.

The fact that a nobody from France won the coach of the year for a form of rugby that should not even be recognised in the same category as 15-men rugby is utterly ridiculous. Rassie ended with 11 wins from 13, with two 1 point losses, won every trophy available this year. If this does not show how corrupt World Rugby is, you are the most delusional person and should not be taken seriously.. And the fact that Du Pont won 7s player of the year due to one olympics? lol. It is just so laughable. It is fine. Rassie will keep winning and World Rugby will keep getting chest pains. Seems like a win-win situation to me.

On the contrary, It's great that someone from 7s won. Rassie already had a great foundation to build off, whereas Daret built it up and went on to win. That is why he won the award, winning all your games doesn't make you worthy. Dupont's win though is a joke. Should've gone to someone who actually committed to the sport.

@@Qminnie1 Point I'm making is consistency can be the enemy of achievement. Rassie has done well every year, meaning what's he achieved this year would look less impressive than someone who has elevated themselves for this one year. Same reason Hansen didn't win in 2015. The one time Rassie won coach of the year was 2019, the year in which he brought the Boks from an abysmal 50% wr to a Rugby Championship and World Cup title.

World Rugby are a bunch of children who are still holding a grudge for Rassie putting them in their place and showing them that their arrogance and dictatorship won't be tolerated by us in South Africa at least. How on God's green earth does what the french sevens coach achieved even compare to what Rassie has? Shame on you World Rugby, Shame on you.

Yep. This coaching team generally loves constructing “narratives” and “themes”. There’s been some serious PR advice at some point in their careers. They like to curry favour… “yeah, good question again”, acknowledging the press by name, “yeah, you’re right…”, “I agree with you, mate…” They defuse criticism and frame the enquiry into areas they want to talk to, and which emphasize strengths in performances, not weaknesses that might reveal a lack in their coaching acumen. Note how the commentary here was framed after the Hansen interview; criticisms qualified by the narratives he established: lots of development, growth of young men, exploration of potential. The results and the manner in which this team have played has improved in the press conferences but align pretty closely to the issues of the last two seasons on the field. That’s the reality that can’t be hidden behind word salads.

I'm okay with the Player Of The Year, but I find it grossly insulting that Ox Nche has not even been nominated. He is the most destructive loosehead prop that we've seen in ages and to not even get a nomination is a slao in the face to literally the nost important, yet underrated players: the props. Sevens Player of the Year I don't really care about, so that's okay. Breakthrough player of the year? Has to be Sititi, doesn't it? Maybe if Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu had played (and dazzled) in the Year End Tests, he could have been stiffer competition. But for my money, Sititi is as a safe a bet as can be. Storming year from the young bruiser. Coach of the year in my opinion could only have been Erasmus or Contepomi, I would have been happy with either. Lets not pretend that Sevens is anywhere close to the stature of Test Rugby. As for the team of the year... As much as I love Marx, I would have given the #2 to either Taylor or Mauvaka. For tighthead prop, anybody that picks any tighthead over Frans Malherbe, is someone who has no idea about scrumming. I'm a huge fan of McKenzie and his smile before he kicks is almost as iconic as the Wilkinson pose, but is that a fair selection? South Africa, Ireland and France did rotate their 10 jersey, so maybe if we take into account game time, McKenzie wins. Marcus Smith is the other elephant in the room, but I wouldn't pick him due to that howler he had in the first test against the All Blacks. If not D-Mac, then who else?

All blacks coaches need to spend $3.50 to buy a 1B5 notebook and write the numbers 1-23 on each page and then write down all of the errors that each of those players are making. And then come Monday morning you sit down with each of those players and make a plan as to how to fix those problems. Clearly the all black coaches are not doing this! If you are a coach who is just sitting there merely watching the game and getting all emotional on each play, then you are not doing your job! When I watch the all blacks, I see the same players making the same mistakes over and over again ... its just poor coaching!
