Shifting Mount has the appearance of a human because, I don't know, was she really a princess? In the time line of the Nightmare, we can find out that "a certain girl" had a stable career, respect and a future, until all this disappeared. Long Quiet was created by Echo, a bird-like creature. Maybe that's why he looks like a half-human half-bird?

I've heard some critics call this ending escapist but I personally find it both heart-warming and also kind of cathartic. No more of this oblivion, gods, construct, time loop nonsense, the hero and the princess return to the grand unknown that is every day life.

Seeing everyone choosing the "I love you" option before going into the mortal unknown brings me the biggest grin on my face. You (the player) are going trough that door, but the princess is nervous. they are still gods, no matter how they try to supress it. It's part of there nature, they just don't want to be seen as gods and just wants to live normal lives and I have to admit that it's good.

So....in short, we have 2 characters here in a video game who want to escape from their fate of being controlled and forced to play their roles like puppets. These 2 somehow breaks all the rules that bind them (I do not understand a sh*t of what happened in the oblivion ending, not to mention my English is just average), exterminate The Narrator and become Gods themselves who control this whole game and create their own world. Is that right?

@@nguyenquangminh3302Not REALLY but extremely close, basically you gotta kill the princess cause she will destroy the world if she gets out, atleast that's what the narrator said.. They're not really controlled, but just forced. They don't really break the rules, they're still bound to the fact they can only make certain choices in the game. They don't exterminate him, he dies himself in the final ending cause of the mirror, they were already gods, just without most of their power, they don't control the game really much they literally just go outside and touch grass and then happy ending.

The voices are there with him (maybe). Remember how in chapter 2 or 3 where new voices always knew about what happened in chapter 1 or 2? It's basically split personality kind of thing where they are the same person as you but are different in personality and aren't exactly separated from you the player. The game always makes you think they died when you approach the mirror after a vessel was taken, it does say that they were gone or "the mirror always makes them leave" and never outright said that they died it's because they are still there with you. "Broken shards" was "fixed" in a sense if you catch my drift since Specter... They are the Voices in our Head after all, the ending where you slay the Princess in the cabin makes a lot of sense...

I always love the "fuck-it-there's-a-third-option" endings and the heros that play them out. It reflects genuine care for the characters in the story. It also feels nice because we're not always smart or strong enough to find that third option in the real world. It just give me a nice little hope that, yeah someone is.

There’s 3 versions of the good ending depending on which princess you met first (yes including the amalgamation princess) but they’re all basically the same thing with a different line or two. Still my preferred ending out of all of them I’ve obtained so far.

I am pretty sure it doesn't matter. You just need to confront her in the final standoff, voice of the Hero appears and takes you to the cabin, don't take the knife and that's just it.

Also keep in mind that "heart" princess is the princess you first met, so it might matter if you go in with the knife or not on the very first route. Her final form isn't supposed to be different depending on collected routes, she said this herself multiple times

This ending honestly my least favorite, I don't feel anything for the princess. When I have the opportunity to kill her, I kill. It’s so alien and even disgusting for me to let her into my soul, to see this imposed love of the protagonist, while I helplessly watch as he releases her to freedom. It feels like a knife in the heart, like the one I stabbed into her countless times. Only this time, instead of dying, I get a sweet, almost perfect ending, which feels all kinds of wrong for me. This tenderness scares and repels me. I feel dirty, as if my will was broken and I was forced to give in to “normal” feelings, like those that others experience, to feel relief. Noah I feel only an endless burden and tightness in my chest. I'm afraid of her. I never wanted her to forgive me, for her to be kind to me, I never wanted to open up to this creature and hear the words of her “understanding”. But here I am, out of pure curiosity, and I feel broken, betrayed and terribly alone next to the princess. This will never be a "good" ending for me.

Fun fact: you can get a more soft princess if you did the loop ending the first time, then this ending the second time. If you did not do the loop ending, you will still get to save the princess in the end, but she will have a more tough and intimidating personality.

Okay... I know I am being pissy, but the fact this ending is just called "Leave" makes it even more confusing when people look at all the ending and say "... Hmmm yep, this is a love story, this has the most love, this is the good ending". Do you know what a good ending means in a story where you are the hero? The CORRECT ending. But here is the deal: this game, in it's whole story, start, right before they say this is a love story, and at the main point ; nails to your head that a correct or wrong, good or bad ending by definition. Cannot. Exist. Slaying her, leaving with the shifting mound, leaving with the princess or looping ; these are all ending and that's all they are. So, as someone who always loops or kills her ( because the idea that the voices and you creat a new world makes my heart flutter since I love the voices 10000 % more than I love the princess) I am feeling like shit! Please tell me if I am being a ass about this.

I actually don't like this ending. I think it's a great ending to have in in the game, and I see why people like it. but to me, this ending is a lie. We deny our true selves, and become human, which appears super romantic sure, but we are also saying to the shambling mound that her very nature is bad, and needs to change if we want to be together, at the same time denying who we are as the long quiet. Not only that but as the shambling mound is the very essence of change, existence itself will stagnate. No new life, no lessons learned, the same things forever. This ending leaves us happy, but it is the empty happyness of the "good ending" that the narrator wanted. Stuck in an empty unchanging void, happy forever. Again not dissing people who like this ending and I would like to hear if you think I'm wrong

Try to fight the Shifting Mound, then enter the basement without the knife.

When you start the game for a first time enter basement without a blade. Then in Finale with goddes Disagree with her go through whole fight with all 5 vessels and after it pick one of a two bottom options at the very bottom, then Voice of Hero will teleport you back to Cabin and don't take a blade again.

@@mrksimka1159 I think you can take the blade when you start the game. My first princess was Spectre (need to take blade) and I had no problem getting this ending.
