Great program! I’m going to share this with family and friends. Thanks for the information. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea last year with a home sleep test, but because I had difficulty sleeping with a mask I underwent a sleep study in a clinic. It took eight tries to find a mask that fit and I didn’t feel claustrophobic in. The clinician adjusted the pressure down after the sleep study, gave me a different mask, and the changes helped me begin to adjust to the CPap. It’s taken six months and I now use the machine about 6 hours on average with the goal of 7-8 hours. I didn’t realize until after I received the machine that my getting up multiple times during the night was due to the sleep apnea and my brain triggering the “fight or flight” response to arouse me. I’m still struggling with fatigue but hope this will resolve in time.

Thanks for this information, Doctor! Good topic, Mike. How to help a spouse who needs help? How will apnea affect a person if left untreated? Oh, I noticed my 2nd question is addressed at 28 minutes.

Hello, I have Central Sleep Apnea and I have to use a ASV machine. I can't sleep without it because my oxygen drop suddenly and I could die, literally. I wish more discussion was done about this. Thanks

Sleep apnea can cause atrial fibrillation, which can, in turn, lead to dementia. Do not delay!

Stop .. This is not conclusive ..lets say not all dementia patients have had sleep apnea
