Your assessment as to why you say you enjoyed this one "more" is not accurate. You say that you think that it's because Vessel's vocals weren't on this version but that's impossible because in your initial review of "Alkaline" you specifically highlighted Vessel's vocals as the standout. I think the reason you enjoyed this version "more" is because of exactly what you claimed didn't affect your score in this one which was the video of actually seeing II perform his drumming. In fact, the one thing you decided to comment on in the video while watching it which was to bring up your admiration of his chocking technique. So yeah, Vessel's vocals were not a problem. You just really liked seeing II do his thing despite you thinking that wasn't a factor. It's a good thing that you did enjoy watching II go to work since that was the whole point of my request here! lol! Among my other Sleep Token requests coming up, there will be more videos of II performing so that will be something to look forward to.

I love "Alkaline" as it is, but it's a real treat to hear II's drumming on his own without Vessel's vocals isn't it? He's got a couple of episodes of interviews he's made with Drumeo and they're on the Drumeo KZbin page - and just like in this video, you get to see how he works with his drums - II is insanely talented! A long, long time ago (over 30 years ago. Yeah, I know it's not "a long, long time ago" for some) I used to go out with a drummer that played in a club/pub band that went round the local (to us) drinking establishments - he might still, I don't know - and I think he might really appreciate watching II's videos. I kind of wish we were still on talking terms and I could tell him about II, but the last we spoke was when he told me he was getting married (this was after we'd split up, don't worry, we weren't still together then. His new missus probably wouldn't have appreciated him still talking to his ex, which is understandable). Sometimes, you just have a desire to tell someone that used to be important to you something don't you? Great review, David. I think I like this video for the same reasons as you - there's no vocal layer. Don't get me wrong, I really do love Vessel's voice, however, sometimes it's just good to hear a slightly different take on a great song though.

Lol but i think in the original you mentioned you liked Vessel's voice (i remember coz i didn't expect you to like it).. 😅 Sooo i think you just liked this version more coz you'd rather see II drumming than Vessel fighting hazmat people with vines 😂

I think it’s as simple as the drums are the focal point in this version, rather than vocals, so you prefer it. The volume is much higher for the drums here and the visuals help you notice subtleties. And for this song in particular I think the drums outperform the vocals, so to speak. It’s not that the vocals being removed made it better, it’s the drums being elevated.
