I love your new hair style. She's a pretty barbie. I think the blue dress and her darker skin tone go really well. My sister had tons of vintage 90s barbies when we were kids she had a wardrobe full of them. Shame we don't get good quality barbies like this now I saw some new barbies last week and I wasn't keen on them 😕

Thanks Dexster! I agree, it is a lovely colour on her. It is SO big though 😂 Barbie was so much better back then. I was in the toy store a few days ago and ALL the toys are made of such cheap plastic now that gets easily scratched and scuffed. It's quite sad.

hey now Dean!!! missed you!! i can remember being a vendor working in toys r us and seeing Mattels Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White princess dolls. I thought Cindy and SB looked too much alike and Snow's clothing looking to much like Disney. Now this was before the Disney princess doll line really hit the market. a few years later i did find these princesses as Disney porcelain dolls and i still have them, displayed in their original boxes on top of one of my bookcases.....with my platinum edition dvds of each film in front of them😁

Yes, there’s a sleeping beauty barbie in 2007 with the same mechanism there is no AA variant tho. Also fun fact is that Mattel made a variant for the blonde and AA in 1998 or 1999 but just without the closing eye mechanism so they were just basic dolls same for 2007 which had many variants.

I found the same aa version at an antique store for $12 in box and glad I picked her up, they did make an aa version of the prince ken but he's harder to find than she is l, the only downside to her is that if her neck breaks its gone forever she cant be rebodied

i watched television constantly back then, and i have no remembrance of that commercial. 😆 i do remember the doll though. The arbitrary racial thing has always been frustrating to me as a child.

I was talking to Eddi and mentioned to him that I don't remember one single Barbie commercial being on TV as a kid. And I'm sure that's the kind of thing I would remember. But maybe I was just too busy playing with my dolls 😂🤷🏼‍♂️ Oh, definitely!

But i was still watching Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network in 1998/1999, so one would think that i would remember Barbie commercials of that time. It's just peculiar, you know? @@BlakeGildaphish76 We didn't get channels like that until about 2005 as we were too poor 😂 I would watch "Saturday Disney" on Saturdays and that is where I would see toy commercials. My brother used to bring up a commercial for a styling head called "My Model" and was always annoyed that I couldn't remember it too. I guess I just don't have the ability to retain commercials 😂

That would have been nice too. But I guess they didn't want to invest too much into the line, probably because they were using the sleep eye mechanism and it hadn't worked out in the past.

Her head isn't rubber but the scalp is. I'm not sure how easy it would be to remove though as I think it has been glued in.
