I'm sure there are a very small select few where circumstances were just so out there that it sounds almost unbelievable and it was truly just a set of events that created a honest mistake. This in itself could be a mistake since a mistake could be an honest bad decision, which is what her situation is regardless of intoxication. The difference is owning up to it and accepting responsibility, in these cases it can no longer be a mistake when they try to lie, gaslight, misdirect, refuse their role, etc. A lot of these cases just want an easy fix least painful fix, when in reality when you find yourself in any drama situation where you majorly f'd up, sometimes the best fix is just to accept it, apologize, face it head on and dive forward. It'll be rough as hell, but it'll be the shortest way to the other side and even if people are angry, by owning it, showing reflection and remorse, acceptance, the more likely you are to maintain more connections when its all over.

Have a family member who acts a good bit like the OP in the first story. Alcohol is an end-all-be-all excuse for any action taken, apparently you're not in control of yourself even remotely when you're drunk (weird how I've never managed to get so drunk that I lose control of what I say and do completely though). They fully accept that what they did was wrong, but here's a million excuses as to why it was no big deal. They're sorry, but you owe them an apology too. They respect your boundaries, but they'll never stop trying to get in contact with you. They accept responsibility, except actually it's YOUR fault if you really think about it. OP will not grow from this, if anything she'll probably get worse. Therapy won't fix her because she doesn't actually see a problem with herself. If she takes anything away from therapy, it will likely just be how to weaponize therapeutic language. Even her last update sounds like a KZbinr apology, nothing but vague platitudes about growing and healing. What a croc.
