@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans18 күн бұрын
Hey there! Yeah there are a lot of bands that work well at warmer temps. You won't see me shooting GZK green above 30°f. There are better bands for warmer temps, but this stuff really shines in the cold. What is the average temp you hunt in, I can give you a more specific recommendation.
@edheinlein374717 күн бұрын
You commented that your bunnies were "skittish", but still managed to get many shots. The showshoes where I live will NEVER let anything get as close to them as you do, especially when the snow is a crunchy as you're experiencing! How do I know? I have a thermal monocular, and in broad daylight, or the darkness of pitch at night, I can see them over 200yds away, and never get close to them.....they bust out once they detect movement 50-75yds away! The only way I can get snowshoes is to snare them!
@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans17 күн бұрын
Yeah it's like that sometimes. For the sake of time I don't show the whole stock but many times I jump these then follow them to 3 or 4 different spots until they get into the thick nasty stuff, then I can get into range as they feel safe. Then it's about threading the needle. Other times I do what I talk about on a couple different videos in my q&a series. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKu0paCCgtN-lZIsi=0yTPL-NZFtWvpJT0

Hey so I see a lot of slingshot maming videos, mainly from Jamaica or African countries, and instead of tubes or flat bands, they use a bunch of rubber bands wrapped around each other, what do you think of this method? In El Salvador a popular method is using a bunch of long rubber bands they call it an "ondilla"

Hi Mike, how the green GZK behaves at room temperature?
@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans15 күн бұрын
This is an interesting question. It is middle of the pack. It will do the job at 60°F, but there are better options at that temp, simple shot, burning skull, Snipersling etc, all out preform it at room temp. But when it's cold all the others lose their retraction rate and get very sluggish where GZK green stays very close to it's standard speed at room temp. Thus it gets the job done in the bitterest of cold temps. It's all I will shoot in the single digits down to as cold as I can stand (-30°F), but you won't see me shooting it in the summer or fall. I hope that makes sense and helps!

What’s your take on hunting with smaller steel? I’ve seen a lot of people swear by 8mm for squirrels, but your 11mm seems to hit harder. Does 8mm penetrate more? Just getting started on slingshot hunting myself after months of practice, want to make sure I’m making clean kills. PS: just found your channel, instantly subbed. Awesome stuff
@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans6 күн бұрын
Great question. 8 mm goes faster and is more likely to penetrate. 8mm will not carry as much kinetic energy down range resulting in greater drops over distance and less impact in the target. 8mm is far more likely to ricochet from a leaf or small twig, this is a result of size and kinetic energy. 11 mm holds its energy for long distances, delivers massive concussive blunt force damage and can get past a leaf or twig. For my style of hunting where I thread a lot of tight brushy shots 11 mm takes the day.

Found your channel recently. I have being watching all your older videos also. Thank you for all the great information. I haven't touched a slingshot it over 20 years but i started to crave one today in the deer stand. Going to make some for the godchildren also. But i do have one question what bands should i look for here in the deep south of Louisiana? I pain to hurt rabbits, quail, and pigeons on my property. The weather is normally 60-90s and about 80% humidity here.

If you want pre made bands sets go to simple-shot.com and get their hunter bands. They are great ! If you are into making your own stuff and fine tuning go to omegaslingsusa.com and get a roll of burning skull band latex .7 mm thickness and cut your bands at a 1 inch to 3/4 inch taper. You will have a smooth draw and all the power you need to take any small game you wish.
