Ghost is a good band for newb metal heads. There's a few other cleaner sounding bands out there as well, and then just ramp it up until you end up playing Metal Comedy Acts such as XavlegX and their song Dicks out for Harambe, or what's that Fast food metal group called... Mac Sabbath.

There's a video of an interview Shawn took part in somewhere out there where he plays a keg more like a set. The "gong" sound is always more noticeable in the songs, but the way he uses the different features of a keg to make different sounds is impressive.

I do appreciate bits and pieces in there though,like some guitar riffs are really good. We all have our music tastes. I never understood butchering people for liking the opposite then yourself. I've been watching this channel for a little while now because I enjoy the music selections. However, as someone that has worked with teens for over ten years, I feel like the message I get from the girl's body language is "I don't want to be here". Of course that could be explained by any number of reasons: type of music selected, being on camera or even just normal teenage apathy. I’ve been recommended a lot of videos like this lately! I love seeing people experience slipknot 😂 (I also just miss concerts 😭) I saw Slipknot live for the first time in 2008 during Mayhem festival, I was 15! The music was insane and the crowd was even crazier, the guy next to me was lighting his hands on fire and there was so many mosh pits, and people ripping up the ground and throwing it everywhere! One of the best concerts I ever went to!

"Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save". And about how much money they make out of stealing. First off, the actual lyrics do say Rain not reign. Corey Taylor himself said the song is about the government AND the military. When it says "And the rain will kill us all, we throw ourselves against the wall" he's talking about judgement day, and how then, everyone will know the truth about everyone, but at the same time everyone will have their backs to the wall because they don't want the truth about themselves to be revealed.

I will say one issue with non-rock/metal fans is often the appreciation for instruments/instrumentals. I am confident in saying rock/metal and jazz music are some of the only genres I can think of where the fans genuinely pay strong attention to both vocals and instruments; that isn't to be egotistical and say I'm somehow better; nor dogmatic in preference. The point is I feel like with a lot of the more popular music I can still listen and identify instruments and be so engrossed in the instruments even if I'm not a huge fan of the vocals; where as a k pop fan may listen to a rock song, hate it but not appreciate the skill for the drumming or such. It's fine for people to not care a ton about the instrumental, I'm merely just pointing out a difference I tend to see. Still, love how she's honest about her views on different aspects of the music she is shown; it's better to be honest than to lie and be unenthusiastic. Of course we all prefer when she genuinely enjoys the song, e.g. Sound of Silence and Bad Wolves Zombie; but it's good to see that not everything is liked too~

I love all kinds of music, doesn't matter the genre, if I like it, I like it.. I'm a 40 year old dude but as much as I will crank Metallica or the grunge I grew up with, I will also listen to random selina or miley, I feel every song is different just like every person is. And if someone likes or dislikes a song then that is fine.. that being said, i would like to hear what issues different people have with songs, just out of curiosity not to try to talk them into liking them.. i mean, I'm Canadian and love rush.. but I understand why people dont like rush.. i also dont like the tragically hip or Neil young. I'm even older and a big Neil Young fan :-) Different taste. Nothing wrong with that. The 'problem' with this kind of bands for me is the grunting style singing. Then it's goodbye for me! Never liked it and never will. The lyrics? I'm here for the music, not for some guy giving a speech. For me it all starts with music; melody, great riffs, not with growls, rap or this kind of semi grunting. If people like it, OK. Fine with me. I'm not gonna spend one penny on it.

I'll take the haters for her. I agree with her. The music is good and when Corey sings, he sounds good, but the growl just ruins everything. I have heard a hand full of bands that do this, and I have not liked one of them. Slipknot could easily be one of my favorite bands if it wasn't for the growling vocals.

As someone in the metal community, never ever feel like you can’t use your voice to share your opinions. That’s what this community is for! The people who take offense don’t truly understand the community and they are not the best example of members of the metal community. Metal is about having a voice and feeling like you have a place to belong, so your daughter isn’t wrong to want to share her own opinions. Not liking Slipknot isn’t such a big deal. Not liking metal isn’t the end of the world. She’s allowed to have her own opinions. This genre isn’t for everyone and that’s ok!
