understandably so. I never expected for your daughter to become a full on metalhead, but it still funny to see the contrast with you at her side. and let me say this while I have the chance, I really appreciate what you're doing with them. not only you're showing them music, most probably they wouldn't even try to hear on their own (and some examples are "iconic music" like queen,led zeppelin, pink floyd and the like), most importantly you are sharing an activity with them, bonding through music. I had the best times of my life with my dad doing this exact thing. we created something special through music, and you are doing the same with your on

And explain why Joey and Clown started calling us maggots. The story of Slipknot is important to understanding the music and WHY we love it.

The Punk Goes Pop albums might get her interest. Originally the first album called Punk Goes Crunk came out as a means for metalcore bands to have fun and be weird with famous pop songs of that year. Then the Punk Goes Pop albums followed and gained huge popularity by releasing a new album every year with that years top pop tracks that different bands covered. These albums helped metal heads and pop fans become interested in each other's music by bridging the gap and opening up people to other music. Some songs are: The Devil Wears Prada - Still Fly All Time Low - Umbrella Woe, Is Me - Last Firday Night T.G.I.F For All Those Sleeping - You Belong With Me The Word Alive - Heartless Issues - Boyfriend We Came As Romans - Glad You Came Crown The Empire - Payphone Memphis May Fire - Grenade We Came As Romans - My Love Go Radio - Rolling In The Deep Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - We R Who We R I hope you see this and for the both of you to give it a shot!

I've been watching this channel for a little while now because I enjoy the music selections. However, as someone that has worked with teens for over ten years, I feel like the message I get from the girl's body language is "I don't want to be here". Of course that could be explained by any number of reasons: type of music selected, being on camera or even just normal teenage apathy. I know you are working on a separate channel of you guys reacting to her music and maybe that will have a different response. I apologize if my observations seem out of line. Just my opinion. Thanks.

"Go drill your deserts - Go dig your graves" I think that part is talking about how America goes into other countries in the middle east where there are deserts and drill oil. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save". And about how much money they make out of stealing. First off, the actual lyrics do say Rain not reign. Corey Taylor himself said the song is about the government AND the military. When it says "And the rain will kill us all, we throw ourselves against the wall" he's talking about judgement day, and how then, everyone will know the truth about everyone, but at the same time everyone will have their backs to the wall because they don't want the truth about themselves to be revealed.

I will say one issue with non-rock/metal fans is often the appreciation for instruments/instrumentals. I am confident in saying rock/metal and jazz music are some of the only genres I can think of where the fans genuinely pay strong attention to both vocals and instruments; that isn't to be egotistical and say I'm somehow better; nor dogmatic in preference. The point is I feel like with a lot of the more popular music I can still listen and identify instruments and be so engrossed in the instruments even if I'm not a huge fan of the vocals; where as a k pop fan may listen to a rock song, hate it but not appreciate the skill for the drumming or such. It's fine for people to not care a ton about the instrumental, I'm merely just pointing out a difference I tend to see. Still, love how she's honest about her views on different aspects of the music she is shown; it's better to be honest than to lie and be unenthusiastic. Of course we all prefer when she genuinely enjoys the song, e.g. Sound of Silence and Bad Wolves Zombie; but it's good to see that not everything is liked too~

I love all kinds of music, doesn't matter the genre, if I like it, I like it.. I'm a 40 year old dude but as much as I will crank Metallica or the grunge I grew up with, I will also listen to random selina or miley, I feel every song is different just like every person is. And if someone likes or dislikes a song then that is fine.. that being said, i would like to hear what issues different people have with songs, just out of curiosity not to try to talk them into liking them.. i mean, I'm Canadian and love rush.. but I understand why people dont like rush.. i also dont like the tragically hip or Neil young. Which most canadians do..
@Leeuw19625 жыл бұрын
I'm even older and a big Neil Young fan :-) Different taste. Nothing wrong with that. The 'problem' with this kind of bands for me is the grunting style singing. Then it's goodbye for me! Never liked it and never will. The lyrics? I'm here for the music, not for some guy giving a speech. For me it all starts with music; melody, great riffs, not with growls, rap or this kind of semi grunting. If people like it, OK. Fine with me. I'm not gonna spend one penny on it.

As someone in the metal community, never ever feel like you can’t use your voice to share your opinions. That’s what this community is for! The people who take offense don’t truly understand the community and they are not the best example of members of the metal community. Metal is about having a voice and feeling like you have a place to belong, so your daughter isn’t wrong to want to share her own opinions. Not liking Slipknot isn’t such a big deal. Not liking metal isn’t the end of the world. She’s allowed to have her own opinions. This genre isn’t for everyone and that’s ok!
