In Corey's Words, The song is about inventing someone or something which you imagine to be perfect, And you worship it/them to a point where they are real, Yet, deep down you know it isn't real. Corey explains which in the form of a girl.

Stacey Watkin when he says "she's coming home forever" that's what I thought too. Like when he sees a girl, thinks she's perfect, realises she isn't, then kills her. Maybe not literally. Maybe killing the thought of her in his mind so he's not broken up by the whole deal.
@hapythots6 жыл бұрын
I've always taken this song as a representation of unwillful infatuation. That kind of "love" that you have no control of and don't want. Like I don't know why I like them but my brain won't let me forget them. That's why he references "her" as the only thing that makes me sad, and how she is so important, but she's not real. She's in his head. And when he says she'll never leave, he means he'll never let her go. Because his mind won't let him. That's how he's a slave and a master. He wants out but his subconscious other unctrollable side won't allow it. And he's aware of the whole situation. Like an inner struggle when you want something even though know you shouldnt, but you're powerless .
@vNill6 жыл бұрын
To me this represents the conflict between emotion and free will, "lm a slave and l am a master" means we are bound to emotions despite our ability to choose "Carve my name in my face to recognize" means love makes us all just another drop in the ocean, unidentifiable. "Such a pheromone cult to terrorize" pheromone cult is love, "terrorizing" (controlling) his free will '"l exist through my need to self oblige" represents the struggle to fight off the construct of love -"She is something in me that I despise" she is not a person, but an image, or idea of love itself -"She isnt real, l cant make her real" l dont know corey's life, but this interpretation is more interesting to me, cause thats how l feel, or at least felt at one point, peace

Well. I know you can form your own thoughts on what its about. But... Basically, the lyrics are basically following a stalker. Hes describing her. But its only his impression of her. But he figures out that she wasnt at all like he thought she was, what he built up her up to be. Ans at the end he realizes this, and now "She isnt real, i cant make her real." He cant make her what he thought of her.

Elizabeth Short[a] (July 29, 1924 - January 14 or 15, 1947), known posthumously as "the Black Dahlia", was an American woman who was found murdered in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Her case became highly publicized due to the graphic nature of the crime, which entailed her corpse having been mutilated and severed at the waist.

Yoooooooo I've been listening to this band forever and I've just realized after watching this video something particularly interesting about the singer and this song. The lyrics in this song "she is something in me that I despise", and "she isn't real, I can't make her real" are really telling (possibly) in a way when you think of the song "Snuff" that you two reviewed. If you watch the video, he is dressed in drag and HE is the woman. "It took the death of hope to let you go" is almost like saying he lost the hope in becoming this person inside himself. And the title "Snuff" is like him snuffing out this side of himself. To kill it "I won't let this build up inside of me"

According to an interview, Corey said that both songs (together) are about a stalker and his target. Part 1 is more about his obsession with a particular woman and his struggle to understand why she triggered him.
@jimmyb66976 жыл бұрын
Aphids are sometimes protected by a colony of ants (from ladybugs, side note) due to the sap it secretes - it's somewhat the milk cow to ants. So my initial thought was that "aphid attraction" meant an instinctual attraction, or an attraction that one can't help but have.

I would add regarding the aphid line: aphids, as you read, suck sap from plants; in addition, ants are known "milk" aphids. From the wiki: "Some species of ants farm aphids, protecting them on the plants where they are feeding, and consuming the honeydew the aphids release from the terminations of their alimentary canals. This is a mutualistic relationship, with these dairying ants milking the aphids by stroking them with their antennae."

Its really awesome to see peoples comments and reaction to these songs 1 and 2. I start to see this song branch out psychologicaly in ways we feel or see it. Its genuis how this song was written. Its almost as if your going to silent hill with multiple choice in psychological warfare. It could be a stocker serial killer it can be more in def. As i actually already know Cory invested is energy and build his life around the girl he possessed. In the video vermillion 1 she watches a cacoon turn into a butterfly as she was miserable. He felt alive and she felt trapped. But very interesting how you choose how you think this song results in. Vermillion 2 she looks like she got caught and killed by a serial killer, but In reality she was dead to him. Part 2 is slower, its showing more sorrow and acceptance she isnt real to him. He cant make her love him the way he loved her.

Could it be about a lost love who is now a ghost to him? Listen to Vermillion Part II for more of an understanding.

My opinion of this song is its about a stalker kidnapping and murdering his obsession and keeping her body. "My Dahlia" referring to the black Dahlia murder and even though he has her she is gone and not really there so he can't make her real and is makes him sad

Hello Sori, Hello Vin! So I've been watching quite a few reactions from you guys already and I am entertained by your explanations/thoughts about what a song could be about. You dig deep into the meaning - or at least your interpretations of it. I like that! It's the reason you are way different from other channels reacting to the same songs as you are. Depth. Please continue doing such a good job! BUT I think criticism is critical for improvement, even if the work someone does is great already. Therefor I'd like to share my criticism of what I have seen and heard so far... Your microphone... It is sadly nowhere near being good. I am not really sure how to describe what exactly is off, but it sounds very pitchy? The depth you have in your interpretations is missing within the sound quality a little. There are a few Tool videos where you comment some lyrics while the song is still playing and it is very hard to understand what either of you two actually say. Does that make sense to you? I'm not entirely sure if i explained it good enough since English is not my mother tongue... Sorry! Second thing I'd like you to know and maybe consider for upcoming videos is that I highly appreciate it when you display the lyric video onto the screen. From my perspective it is sometimes hard to understand what someone is singing - especially when there are loud instruments playing simultaneously and there is a small language barrier aswell (international audience etc.). Being able to read the lyrics at the same time helps understanding and keeping up with your comments and explanations relating to the specific lines of the lyrics. That's it. I'm done ranting! I hope you do not take it the wrong way! Keep it up and best wishes from Germany!

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM!! Our best ideas have come from people like you. We just started about 3 weeks ago and we know we don’t know what we are doing. A good mic is the first thing on our list to buy. We are going to do some research and hopefully by tomorrow we will have one purchased. Thank you for taking the time not only to watch our videos, but for caring enough about us to want to help make us better. Also thank you for the insight about lyric videos and how they relate to international listeners! Thanks again! -Sori✌🏻

You should react to Vermillion Pt. 2 for that opposite tone of Slipknot. Both versions are great on their own, but it would be awesome to see both of your thoughts on it. Almost seems like Corey had a chick on the pedestal and/or fantasized a specific female he couldn't obtain, ya know?

Jennifer Stone are you just talking about Vermillion part 2? Lol it's acoustic, but it's not really a different version of the song, it's just the second half of the story.
