Doesn't stainless steel leeche chromium and nickel? If it says 18/10 stainless steel ,18 means 18% chromium and 10 means 10% nickel. Nickel is to keep the steel from rusting!

What Crock Pot or Slow cooker would you recommend?
@blondwiththewind6 жыл бұрын
Your photo showed a steel spoon inside the crockpot. Metal utensils are NOT good for ceramic or clay crock pot liners as they scratch the surface. You want to keep the shiny surface of the interior of the crockpot intact. Use wooden spoons and/or non-scratching utensils. Be careful of any scrubbers you may use when cleaning the crockpot: again, if you handle it roughly the surface can get scratched...and you don't want that.

I've always soaked beans before cooking in the crockpot....and sometimes it does take a couple of days before they get slightly soft and ready to cook. Never had them "sprout" though.

@@ytytyyu The only difference is if you're cooking at a very low heat, you have to be aware of it and watch it. With a slow cooker, you can drive to the store if you need to and not worry about it.

Lonnie Cox a good general rule is to not put any food especially hot in any type of plastic. Buy Pyrex or glass containers to put your leftovers in.

EXACTLY my question! Why not recommended some stainless inserts via the ceramic ones? I immediately did a search. All I can find are stainless exterior crockpots or those with an aluminum insert. I don't drink or eat ANYTHING that is in or made in aluminum. Parkinson's and Dementia are IN my genes. I don't want to add to it. I felt like they criticizied something without giving an alternative. Don't be just an infomercial!!

This guy is always wrong about something or other... Clay is far more of a hazard than ceramic. Lead is naturally occurring in soil and clay.
@bobschmob82336 жыл бұрын
Lynn C haha... yeah. Clay is going to contain the byproducts of the environment it's cleaning or filtering out. Most things are made from materials found in toxic places, i.e. China etc. And those toxins, natural and unnatural, leech into foods when cooking.
